Library Services (https://library.hkbu.edu.hk)
The University Library provides high-quality resources and services in support of the University's teaching, research, and learning activities. Located at the heart of the Kowloon Tong campus, the Main Library is a hub of academic activity providing around 1,200 study places. 130 computer workstations are distributed throughout the Library, with those in the Multimedia Learning Centre offering access to specialised data analytics software. The Academic Commons encompassing two full floors of the Main Library features group study rooms and other collaborative spaces.

Students may search the Library's electronic and print collections through a sophisticated cloud-based system that is shared with the other UGC-funded libraries. The Library's collections and subscriptions provide access to:

  • Over 1.6 million e-books and more than 1 million printed books
  • Over 189,000 electronic journals
  • Over 135,000 multimedia titles in streaming and physical formats
  • Self-study resources such as LinkedIn Learning

The Library further supports the teaching, research, and learning needs of the University community through its comprehensive user enquiry and research support services. Students are welcome to seek help with finding information for their assignments and research through various communication channels such as e-mail, instant chat messaging via WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, in-person at the Library’s Information Desk, etc.

In addition to the Main Library, all HKBU students may access our two branch libraries:

  • Dr. Stephen Riady Chinese Medicine Library - Established in 2001, the Dr. Stephen Riady Chinese Medicine Library (CML) is the first library among the universities in Hong Kong dedicated to Chinese medicine. Located in the Jockey Club School of Chinese Medicine Building, the CML houses materials on Chinese medicine and related subjects. It provides over 110 study places.
  • Shek Mun Campus Library - Located on the College of International Education (CIE)’s campus in Shatin, the Shek Mun Campus Library provides information resources and services in support of the CIE’s teaching and learning activities. With 2,500 square metres of space, it provides over 460 study places.

Student Accommodation (https://sa.hkbu.edu.hk/sas/)
Student residence forms an integral part in realizing the University's vision of whole-person education of students. Under the supervision of the Office of Student Affairs, the Student Accommodation Section endeavours to provide safe, supportive and stimulating residential communities that embrace diversity, and encourage participation, learning and independence of students.

To ensure a hygienic, safe and well-maintained living environment, cleaning, security patrol and maintenance services are carried out regularly. Different student activities are organised throughout the year to enrich students' residence experiences as well.

Sports Facilities
The University offers a wide range of sports facilities for university staff and students:

1) Wai Hang Sports Centre

1. An indoor multi-purpose court which can be used for activities such as basketball, badminton or volleyball;
2. A swimming pool;
3. Two fitness rooms;
4. A multipurpose room;
5. A dance room;
6. Two squash courts; and
7. Two tennis courts.

2) Dr. Stephen Hui Sports Hall

This indoor sports hall can be used for activities such as basketball, badminton, dance, gymnastics, table-tennis or volleyball.

3) Sports Hall in Madam Kwok Chung Bo Fun Sports and Cultural Centre

This indoor sports hall can be used for activities such as basketball, badminton, dance or volleyball.

4) Joint Sports Centre

The Joint Sports Centre is jointly owned by City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. It provides various outdoor sports facilities for use by students and staff:

a.  IAAF Class II standard Track and Field facilities;
b.  11-a-side Grass Soccer Pitch;
c.   Multi-purpose Court for basketball, volleyball, handball, or 5-a-side soccer;
d.   Four Tennis Courts; and
e.   Four-bay Golf Practice Area.

Information Technology Facilities (https://ito.hkbu.edu.hk/)
The University has established an effective information technology infrastructure to meet the needs of the user community. In addition to wired networks, Wi-Fi services are also available throughout the campus in classrooms, laboratories, libraries, student residence halls and other public areas. Teaching and learning in lecture theatres and classrooms are all supported by computer-aided audio visual facilities. User Computing Centres and Learning Commons, equipped with advanced workstations and printing facilities, are also available at different campus locations. IT services, such as email services, e-Learning platform, University Portal and various information systems, can be easily accessed by students anywhere or anytime to facilitate their learning and research activities.
