Banding of Programme Choices

  • The JUPAS participating-institutions have NO ACCESS to individual applicants' actual priority of programme choices until after the announcement of the Main Round offer results.

    (Please refer to section Actual Priority of Programme Choices)

Agreement among JUPAS Participating-Institutions on Re-prioritization of Programme Choices

  • To ensure that JUPAS remains a fair and objective system for applicants, official advice (including information dissemination, career guidance, programme counselling, formal / informal contacts with applicants, etc.) will NOT be given by the JUPAS participating-institutions to applicants during the period between the announcement of the HKALE results and the deadline for re-prioritization of study programme choices (i.e. between 29 June - 2 July 2012*), regardless of who initiates the approach.

    (Please refer to section Information on Study Programmes)

Conditional Offers

  • JUPAS participating-institutions will NOT enter into private deals (verbal or written, or conditional offers) with applicants at any time of the entire JUPAS exercise.

  • Notwithstanding the above, conditional offers, where applicable, may be made but will be confined to the following:

    1. Self Recommendation Scheme;
    2. Sub-system for School Principal's Nominations;
    3. Sub-system for Applicants with a Disability;
    4. Outstanding Sportsmen Admission / Recommendation (run by individual institutions)
  • Participating-institutions may give feedback on interviews for some programmes to applicants. These however DO NOT constitute or entail an offer / a conditional offer.

Selection Criteria

  • HKCEE AND HKALE results are NOT the only factors that determine if applicants will be accepted to any programme of the 9 participating-institutions under JUPAS. Other considerations may include performance in interviews and / or tests, banding of programme choices, overall grades achieved by other applicants in the current year, and the number of applicants applying to the programme, and other factors.

  • Admission to the institutions is on a competitive basis, as the number of places available is normally far less than the number of eligible applicants. Satisfying the minimum entrance requirements of an institution or a programme does not therefore guarantee admission.

  • Determination of applicants' suitability for admission is entirely the decision of the 9 participating-institutions and is entirely independent of the JUPAS Office. Enquiries on the institutions' decisions should be directed towards the institutions concerned.

    (Please refer to section Iteration Process)

HKALE Appeal Cases

  • Applicants with upgraded HKALE results will NOT be disadvantaged in that as long as the new position of the results of these applicants on the merit order list of the programme with the upgraded results is higher than the Main Round cut-off point (i.e. the last applicant admitted) of that particular programme, they will be offered admission to the programme concerned.

    (Please refer to section HKALE Appeal Cases)
