HKDSE Examination Results

1 If local applicants obtained unsatisfactory results in their past HKDSE Examinations, could they retake the HKDSE Examination in 2024 and apply for admission to the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions via JUPAS?

If local applicants have past HKDSE Examination results and wish to retake the HKDSE Examination in 2024, they can apply for admission to the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions via JUPAS provided that they are NOT enrolled in full-time bachelor's degree programmes under JUPAS at the time they submit their JUPAS applications.

Their HKDSE Examination results obtained in different sittings will be available to the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions for their consideration.  Applicants do not have to submit their past and / or current HKDSE Examination results to the JUPAS Office.

The 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions may consider the HKDSE Examination results obtained by the applicants in different sittings when assessing their eligibility for admission.  In this regard, applicants should consult the general entrance requirements and individual programme requirements and the websites of the respective institutions for further information.

2 If local applicants have taken HKDSE Examination in the past years but will not be sitting for the HKDSE Examination in 2024, can they apply via JUPAS?

YES.  If local applicants have taken HKDSE Examination in the past years but are not going to sit for the HKDSE Examination in 2024, they can still apply via JUPAS provided that they are NOT enrolled in full-time bachelor's degree programmes under JUPAS at the time they submit their JUPAS applications.

The 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions may consider the HKDSE Examination results obtained by the applicants in different sittings when assessing their eligibility for admission.  In this regard, applicants should consult the general entrance requirements and individual programme requirements and the websites of the respective institutions for further information.

3 Will there be any penalty in the calculation of admissions scores for applicants with HKDSE Examination results obtained in more than one sitting?

The 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions may consider the HKDSE Examination results obtained by the applicants in different sittings when assessing their eligibility for admission.  Some institutions' programmes may impose penalties on applicants with HKDSE Examination results obtained from more than one sitting.  In this regard, applicants should consult the general entrance requirements and individual programme requirements and the websites of the respective institutions for further information.

4 Can applicants choose to submit their HKDSE Examination results obtained in a specific year?

NO.  ALL past and / or current HKDSE Examination results of the applicants will be obtained from the HKEAA by the JUPAS Office, the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions, provided that the same HKID card numbers were used to register both their JUPAS accounts and their HKDSE Examination.  They will therefore be made available to the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions for their consideration.

The 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions may consider the HKDSE Examination results obtained by the applicants in different sittings when assessing their eligibility for admission.  In this regard, applicants should consult the general entrance requirements and individual programme requirements and the websites of the respective institutions for further information.

5 Do applicants have to submit their past and / or current HKDSE Examination Category B: Applied Learning (ApL) subjects results to the JUPAS Office?

NO.  Applicants DO NOT have to submit their past and / or current ApL subjects results to the JUPAS Office.

ALL past and / or current HKDSE Examination results which include ApL subjects results registered at the HKEAA will be obtained from the HKEAA by the JUPAS Office, the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions, provided that the same HKID card numbers were used to register their JUPAS accounts and for their HKDSE Examination.

In this regard, applicants are required, at the time of applications, to authorise, via the JUPAS online application system at the "My Declaration" page, the JUPAS Office, the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions to obtain, and the HKEAA to release, their results concerned in support of their applications.

6 How will the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions consider the ApL subjects results (e.g. Attained)?

It will be entirely up to the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions to decide how the ApL subjects results will be considered, and is independent of the JUPAS Office.  In this regard, applicants should consult the general entrance requirements and individual programme requirements and the websites of the respective institutions for further information.

7 Will the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions know the language version of each subject that applicants have taken in HKDSE Examination?  How will the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions consider different language version of the HKDSE Examination subjects?

NO.  The 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions will not know the language version of each subject applicants have used in the HKDSE Examination.

ALL language versions of the HKDSE Examination subjects are considered on the same basis by the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions.

8 Will the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions know if applicants were absent in all / some of the HKDSE Examination subjects?  How will they consider these subjects?

ALL the HKDSE Examination results, including the examination subjects that applicants were absent in, will be obtained from the HKEAA by JUPAS Office, the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions, provided that the same HKID card numbers were used to register their JUPAS accounts and for their HKDSE Examination.  They will therefore be made available to the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions for their consideration.

10 How many HKDSE Examination subjects do local applicants need to take so that they are eligible to apply via JUPAS?

There is no restriction on the number of HKDSE Examination subjects applicants need to take to be eligible to apply via JUPAS.  Local applicants with past and / or current HKDSE Examination results are eligible to apply via JUPAS provided that they are NOT enrolled in full-time bachelor's degree programmes under JUPAS at the time they submit their JUPAS applications.

However, applicants should read carefully the general entrance requirements and individual programme requirements, and consult the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions' and the SSSDP institutions' websites to ensure that they will be able to meet all the specified requirements (e.g. language and subject requirements at the HKDSE Examination results, etc.) of the respective institutions before they submit their applications.
