Short Description

College of Engineering covers a vibrant spectrum of engineering fields and promotes academic synergy. The College has eight academic units, offering academic programmes in diverse engineering disciplines. In addition to other routes that students would choose to directly enter individual departments of the College, the JS1217 option offers a free choice of major to students. They will have guaranteed opportunities for internships and overseas exchange. Besides taking their chosen major, students will be required to take a minor named "Minor in Engineering Entrepreneurship". 

Admission Arrangements

JUPAS applicants will be considered to first-year studies at the College of Engineering. Students will have a free choice of majors offered by the departments upon acceptance of offer.

For departments offering one single major, students will be enrolled in the major in the first year:

  • Advanced Design and Systems Engineering
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Materials Science and Engineering

For departments with more than one major, students will be enrolled in the department in the first year and enter a major according to their wishes in the second year:

  • Architecture and Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

Notes:

  • Unspecified electives may include Category A elective subjects, Mathematics extended modules (M1/M2) (except for JS1801) and Category C other language subjects (at grade E or above) (except for JS1200, JS1201, JS1217, JS1801, JS1805JS1806 and JS1807). If students take both M1 and M2, they are counted as one subject only.
  • Applied Learning (ApL) subjects are not counted as elective subjects, except for JS1041, JS1042, JS1043, JS1044, JS1805JS1806 and JS1807.

  • Flexible Admission Arrangement: JUPAS applicants who marginally fail to meet the requirement for programme admission in one core subject may still have the opportunity to gain admission if they have good HKDSE results. For details, click here.

Calculation of scores for applicants with more than 1 sitting in HKDSE Examination

CityU accepts repeat results and will use the best results in assessing whether applicants fulfil the entrance requirements and to calculate admission scores.
