Short Description

This programme helps the students to gain analytical, technical, theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of food testing science through a structured science approach.  The graduate will be equipped to play a key role in the industry of food testing science including but not limited to food testing specialist, food testing technician, supervisors or quality controller on food production, and food merchandiser.
 
Elementary courses in basic science are involved in the first two years of the designed curriculum.  Advanced subjects such as food analysis, food safety management, and toxicology are provided in year 3 and 4.

  1. HKDSE Category B subjects (Applied Learning) with attainment at “Attained” or above; or Category C subjects (Other Languages) with attainment at grade E or above will be considered as elective subjects.

  2. Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) applicants, who have met the specified circumstances as announced by the Education Bureau (EDB), can use the following qualifications to replace HKDSE Chinese Language level 3 to meet the entrance requirement for Chinese Language:
    • ‘Attained’ or above in HKDSE Applied Learning Chinese
    • Grade E or above in GCE (A-Level / AS-Level / O-Level) Chinese
    • Grade E / Grade 3 or above in GCSE / IGCSE Chinese

Calculation of scores for applicants with more than 1 sitting in HKDSE Examination

OUHK will consider the best grade attained for a particular subject from any sittings of HKDSE examination taken by the applicant. There is no grade penalty for multiple sittings.

Remarks:

  1. The estimated composite tuition/programme fees listed above are subject to the University’s approval and for reference only. Tuition fees are charged according to the number of course credits taken by a student. A student will normally take 40 credits in an academic year. Non-local students will be charged at a higher rate.
  2. The composite tuition/programme fees listed above have included laboratory/ practicum/ immersion course fees, etc., if applicable.
  3. There will be an annual adjustment of tuition fees which will be capped at the actual Composite Consumer Price Index (CCPI) to be announced by the Government. The estimated composite tuition/programme fees for the whole programme has not yet taken the CCPI for the second to fourth (or fifth) year, i.e. 2021/22 to 2023/24 (or 2024/25) academic year, into account.
  4. Students, who fulfilled the stipulated requirements set by the Education Bureau (EDB), are eligible for the Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme for Self-financing Undergraduate Studies in Hong Kong (“NMTSS”) provided by the Government.   5. A student’s eligibility for the NMTSS and the annual subsidy amount allocated in an academic year is subject to EDB’s final approval. The annual subsidy amount of NMTSS for the 2020/21 academic year is to be confirmed by EDB.
  6. Only local students are eligible for subsidy under NMTSS.
