FAQ

1 If local applicants wish to apply for admission to the SSSDP designated first-year-first-degree (FYFD) programmes, are they required to create separate JUPAS accounts?

NO.  Local applicants only need to create one JUPAS account.  They can use the same account to apply for admission to UGC-funded programmes offered by the 8 UGC-funded institutions, self-financing programmes offered by HKMU and / or SSSDP programmes offered by the SSSDP institutions.

Local applicants who wish to apply for admission to the SSSDP designated FYFD programmes should follow the application procedures of JUPAS and select the SSSDP designated FYFD programmes in their programme choice lists.  There is no restriction on the number of programme choices they can select from different funding categories / institutions as long as the total number of programmes choices does not exceed 20.

2 Can local applicants apply for admission to the SSSDP designated FYFD programmes via channels other than JUPAS?

Local applicants who wish to apply for admission to the SSSDP designated FYFD programmes on the strength of their HKDSE Examination results SHOULD normally apply via JUPAS.

Please refer to section on Eligibility for more details.

3 What are the tuition fees for the SSSDP designated FYFD programmes?

Please refer to Tuition Fees for the SSSDP Institutions or the "First Year Tuition Fee" of the SSSDP programmes in Programme Information for more details.

4 What are the criteria for determining the amount of subsidy for the SSSDP programmes?

Please refer to the SSSDP website or contact EDB at (852) 3468 2266 for more details.

5 How will the subsidies be provided to the applicants enrolled in the SSSDP programmes?

Please refer to the SSSDP website or contact EDB at (852) 3468 2266 for more details.

6 Can local applicants who are currently enrolled in full-time bachelor's degree programmes at one of the SSSDP institutions apply for admission to the SSSDP programmes via JUPAS?

Local applicants who are currently enrolled in full-time bachelor's degree programmes under JUPAS at one of the SSSDP institutions CANNOT apply for admission to the SSSDP programmes via JUPAS.  If such local applicants wish to apply via JUPAS, they MUST have COMPLETED the entire withdrawal process from the SSSDP institutions they are currently enrolled in at the time they submit their JUPAS applications, otherwise their applications will NOT be processed.

The JUPAS Office will check the applicants' status with the SSSDP institutions, and request such applicants to provide supporting documents to prove their withdrawal status when necessary.  If such applicants cannot provide the supporting documents, or the JUPAS Office receives confirmation from the institutions that such local applicants have not COMPLETED the withdrawal process, their JUPAS applications will be cancelled without further notice.

Applicants who are currently enrolled in full-time bachelor's degree programmes NOT under JUPAS at one of the SSSDP institutions CAN apply for admission to the SSSDP programmes via JUPAS.

Please refer to section on Eligibility for more details.

7 Can local applicants who are currently enrolled in full-time associate degree / higher diploma programmes at one of the SSSDP institutions apply for admission to the SSSDP programmes via JUPAS?

YES.  Local applicants who are currently enrolled in full-time associate degree / higher diploma programmes at one of the SSSDP institutions CAN apply for admission to the SSSDP programmes via JUPAS.

Please refer to section on Eligibility for more details.

8 Can local applicants apply for admission only to the SSSDP programmes and not other programmes offered by the JUPAS participating-institutions?

YES.  Local applicants can select only the SSSDP designated FYFD programmes in their programme choice lists.  Applicants have the discretion to decide how many and what programmes they wish to choose.  There is no limits on the number of programme choices they can select from different funding categories / institutions as long as the total number of programmes choices does not exceed 20.

9 What are the selection criteria for the SSSDP programmes?

Applicants' suitability for admission is entirely the decisions of the SSSDP institutions and is independent of the JUPAS Office.  Enquiries on the SSSDP institutions' decisions should be directed to the SSSDP institutions concerned.

Admission to the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions is on a competitive basis, since the number of places available is normally far less than the number of eligible applicants.  In this regard, satisfying the minimum entrance requirements of the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions or the SSSDP institutions, and their respective programmes does not therefore guarantee admission.

In determining applicants' positions in the respective merit order lists, institutions' programmes will consider NOT ONLY the HKDSE Examination results, but also other factors (e.g. performance in interviews and / or tests, banding of programme choices, HKDSE Examination results of other applicants in the same year, the number of applicants applying to the programmes, other information provided by applicants in the online application forms, etc.).

10 When and how will the SSSDP offer results be announced?

The SSSDP offer results will be announced in the respective rounds of JUPAS offers (which will contain offers from the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions):

Main Round Offer;

Offer Results for Reconsideration of Application Based on Upgraded HKDSE Examination Results on Subject Levels / Grades after Rechecking and Remarking; and

Clearing Round Offer.

For the dates of offer results announcement, please refer to JUPAS Key Dates.

11 Will applicants receive one offer from the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and one from the SSSDP institutions in the Main Round?

NO.  Each successful applicant will receive only ONE offer (i.e. one offer from either one of the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions or the SSSDP institutions) in the Main Round which is the BEST AND ONLY offer to be made in the same academic year (2024 – 2025) and is of the highest possible priority on the programme choice list.

Once the applicants are given Main Round offers (i.e. one offer from either one of the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions or the SSSDP institutions), they will NOT be reconsidered for admission to any other programmes in the Clearing Round.

Please refer to the section on Main Round Offer for more details.

Except for applicants with upgraded HKDSE Examination results on subject levels / grades after rechecking and remarking (RR results) who submit requests for reconsideration of applications based on the RR results and are subsequently made "better" offers
