Bachelor of Economics / Bachelor of Economics and Finance 經濟學學士 / 經濟金融學學士

BEcon/BEcon&Fin

Short Description

The BEcon and BEcon&Fin programmes share the same programme code. Students are required to enrol in either one of the programmes on admission.

The BEcon programme trains students in economic theories, statistical tools, the application of theories to solve practical economic problems in trade, banking, the labour market and evaluation of the regional economic performances of China, Hong Kong and other economies. Students will be furnished with solid theoretical and empirical economic knowledge to analyse and understand human behaviour and social interactions. The programme allows students a high degree of flexibility in planning their future career specialisation. Students can also declare a second major or minor(s) if they are able to meet the programme requirements.

The BEcon&Fin programme is designed to meet the interests of students who are seeking a balanced study of both economics and finance. The programme recognises the significance of economics both in its own right and as a foundation for the study of finance, and the significance of finance as a career path for students in Hong Kong. Students will receive solid training in economic and financial theories and applications. They will be equipped with the skills to analyse human behaviour and social interaction, as well as to solve problems in financial institutions. The single-major curriculum structure enables students the flexibility to pursue a second major or minor(s).

HKU-PKU “Future Leaders” Dual Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance and Management

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and Peking University (PKU) have jointly launched an HKU-PKU “Future Leaders” Dual Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance and Management. The programme integrates the strengths of two leading business schools in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Students will be awarded a Bachelor of Economics and Finance (BEcon&Fin) from HKU, and a Bachelor of Management (BMgmt) from PKU upon successful completion of the 4-year programme.

Jointly offered with Peking University (PKU), the HKU-PKU “Future Leaders” Dual Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance and Management integrates the strengths of two leading business schools in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Students will be awarded a Bachelor of Economics and Finance (BEcon&Fin) from HKU, and a Bachelor of Management (BMgmt) from PKU upon successful completion of the 4-year programme.

The economic development in Hong Kong and Mainland China is highly intertwined, yet the business environment in the two places is utterly disparate. This programme aims to instil students with a robust understanding of the business models in the two markets, and to help them familiarize with the different operation and management styles.

There are ample opportunities for students to participate in summer exchange programmes at world-class universities, and to gain internship experience from Hong Kong or Mainland China companies. With solid knowledge of economics, finance and management and interpersonal skills gained in multi-cultural and social contexts, graduates are expected to become competitive and capable business leaders with a global perspective.

Separate application is required for applying to this Dual Bachelor’s Degree programme.
