BBA in Professional Accounting 工商管理學士(專業會計學)
ACCT
Short Description
The BBA Professional Accounting (ACCT) program gives students a world-class start to their professional careers. It aims to groom students to be trusted accounting professionals by equipping them with a solid foundation in business and accounting knowledge, communications and leadership skills. Professional excellence courses, comprising seminars led by prominent business professionals, are incorporated into the curriculum for students to meet and learn from the leaders in the profession.
The program offers students ample opportunities to enrich their lives in the undergraduate years, for instances, internship and cadet programs offered by Big4 CPA firms; student exchange programs; and various case competitions organized by relevant professional bodies. Scholarships are available for many of these activities.
Four study pathways are offered in the ACCT program to accommodate students' career aspiration. Students who wish to master accounting as a language in business may take the general pathway while those who wish to pursue accounting professional qualification may take the HKICPA QP path. The ACCT program has long been academically acclaimed and is accredited by the AACSB International as well as leading professional accounting bodies such as the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and CPA Australia(CPAA).
We constantly review our ACCT program to ensure it meets the evolving talent demand in the Accounting profession and business. In response to the increasing demand for data-driven insights, we have introduced the academic option “Accounting Analytics” for students who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in using data analytics in Accounting. Students may take the AA option on top of the HKICPA QP pathway.
ACCT students may pursue dual majors if they wish to do so. The academic administration well coordinates course offerings among different programs and provides students with a conducive environment to pursue their own academic interests.
Extended Major
ACCT students may apply for the extended major in Artificial Intelligence or Digital Media and Creative Arts at the end of the 3rd term of study, if they satisfy the extended major requirement. Students completing the extended major will graduate with a title bearing both the traditional major subject they selected and the extended major. For details, please refer to "JS5300 Business & Management".
Remarks:
The Year 1 curricula of JS5318 ACCT and JS5300 B&M are identical. JS5318 allows students who have a special interest in BBA ACCT to directly enter the major. Those admitted into JS5300 may apply to enter ACCT or other business majors via the major selection exercises held at the end of the first three terms. Students interested in ACCT should include either or both JS5318 and JS5300 in their program choices. Please click here for details of JS5300 Business and Management.
Band A applicants who show talents and potentials for business study will be invited to engagement activities organized by HKUST Business School in May–June 2025.
