Bachelor of Arts in Literary Studies and Bachelor of Laws (double degree) 文學士(文學研究)及法學士 (雙學位課程)

BA(Literary Studies)&LLB

Short Description

This joint programme in literary studies and law provides students with the opportunity to pursue their studies in both literature and the law, and to explore the connections between the two.  On completion of the five-year programme, students will be awarded two degrees - Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws.  In addition to preparing students for legal practice, the programme cultivates an appreciation of the narrative dimensions and rhetoric of legal discourse and of the overlaps between literary and legal histories.  The curriculum provides a solid foundation for legal practice as well as a wide variety of careers beyond the law, including journalism, media and communications, the arts and culture, and politics.

Calculation of scores for applicants with more than 1 sitting in HKDSE Examination

In general, most of the programmes offered by HKU consider the best results achieved by candidates in different combination of sittings, except for a few programmes which only consider the latest results.  Few programmes may also impose a penalty on HKDSE repeaters.  The policy on the calculation of scores in combined sittings of HKDSE for the 2018-19 exercise will be finalized at a later stage, which will be posted on our website http://www.hku.hk/dse.

First Year Tuition Fee

HK$ 42,100

The year(s) of study beyond the four-year curriculum are offered on a 'self-financing' basis, which means:

  1. that students studying for these further qualifications will be required to pay composition fees higher than the normal fee; and
  2. that while these students will be eligible for financial assistance under the Government Financial Assistance Scheme and Non-means-tested Loan Scheme, they will not be eligible for other Government loans and grants.
