INFO & AI ENGG

Short Description

We are living in a smart era in which many of our daily decision-making processes are based on the collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation of a large amount of data and information. The Scheme encompasses three programmes that are aimed at training professionals who are interested to work in the following three inter-related areas: (1) electronic systems and Internet of Things; (2) artificial intelligence and information engineering; and (3) information security. Depending on their own areas of interest, students admitted into the Scheme are allowed to choose to specialise in one of these three areas.

Remarks:

  • Students will be awarded one of the following upon successful completion of the graduation requirements of the programme concerned:
    • BEng (Hons) in Electronic Systems and Internet-of-Things 電子系統及物聯網(榮譽)工學士
    • BSc (Hons) in Artificial Intelligence and Information Engineering 人工智能及資訊工程學(榮譽)理學士
    • BSc (Hons) in Information Security 資訊安全(榮譽)理學士
  • Students are allowed to enrol in any programme without being subject to further assessment.
  • Students can take a number of extra electives to earn a Minor Award in areas such as applied mathematics, accountancy, business, finance and management, among others.
  • The option of Secondary Major in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics (AIDA) is available to students in BEng (Hons) in Internet-of-Things (a variant of BEng (Hons) in Electronic Systems and Internet-of-Things). Admission to the Secondary Major is on a competitive basis and subject to a different credit requirement for graduation.

For HKDSE repeaters who took “Liberal Studies” in 2023/24 or before and have not taken "Citizenship and Social Development" in 2024/25 and thereafter, "Level 2" or above in "Liberal Studies" would be regarded as "Attained" in "Citizenship and Social Development" for fulfilling the general entrance requirement. However, "Liberal Studies" would not be recognized for meeting the elective requirement of the general entrance requirement in 2024/25 and thereafter. The level attainment of the subject would not be included in the admission score calculation.

Flexibilities on admission selection are available as follows:
  1. Individual schemes / programmes will accept one relevant Applied Learning (ApL) subject for meeting the entrance requirements. An attainment at Attained with Distinction (I) level or above / Attained with Distinction (obtained in 2017 or before) is required.
  2. Other Language subjects (i.e. Category C) offered in the HKDSE Examination will be accepted as elective subjects. Grade E or above is required.
