Short Description
Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) in Acting for Global Screen is a unique, international, interdisciplinary “state-of-the-art” Bachelor of Fine Arts programme in acting, which combines acting training and performance studies, technology understanding and contemporary cultural reflection in its curriculum. It aims to be the most competitive undergraduate programme in acting performance, with cross-cultural and global enrichments that meet the needs of acting for screen, stage acting, acting with media technology in the film industries for both local and non-local students.
Unique Features
Graduates are all rounded acting professionals. They shall be well equipped in acting performance and highly competent with storytelling formats, be it linear and nonlinear, long form and flashy clips, and therefore will be able to perform on various media from traditional stage performance to acting with technology.

Film Festival Tours
The Academy of Film organises Film Festival Tours, overseas film exchange and workshops to enhance students’ competitive edge and their international/ global exposure such as Busan International Film Festival (Korea), Tokyo International Film Festival (Japan), Singapore International Film Festival, Cinema at Sea - Okinawa International Film Festival, etc.
Internship and Workshops
Students are advised to attend internship, performing practicum via casting and/or field work placement at overseas or local professional performing companies, media or film projects. There will also be workshops conducted by celebrated international and local film, drama and performing institutions.
Career Opportunities
The programme has very close network with film and theatre professionals, festival juries, casting experts, film directors and performing practitioners who will attend the graduation showcase. They are potential employers of the graduates.

Notes for elective subjects:
1) One of the elective subjects must be any Category A subjects excluding Extended Part of Mathematics (Module 1 or Module 2);
2) The other elective subject can be any of the following subjects:
a) Category A subjects including Extended Part of Mathematics (Module 1 or Module 2);
b) Category B (Applied Learning) subjects with "Attained with Distinction (I)" or above;
c) Category C (Other Language) subjects.

Remarks on other requirements:
1) Good results in English language is preferred.
2) High choice banding in JUPAS application is preferred.
3) Applicants are required to submit portfolio related to the discipline for the application. They can refer to the website: http://af.hkbu.edu.hk/en/prog-bfa for further details.
4) Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend audition and interview.

Note 3:
- One of the elective subjects must be Category A subjects excluding Extended Part of Mathematics (Module 1 or Module 2). Another elective subject can be all Category A subjects including Extended Part of Mathematics (Module 1 or Module 2).
- Individual programmes may consider Category B subjects (Applied Learning) with “Attained with Distinction (I)” or above and/or Category C subjects (Other Languages) for fulfilment of the second elective requirement
- Category B subjects under the study area of “Applied Learning Chinese” are recognised as an alternative Chinese language qualification for non-Chinese speaking students. These subjects are not for fulfilment of the second elective subject requirement.
- In general, the scores for Category A subjects are converted as follows:
5**=7, 5*=6, 5=5, 4=4, 3=3, 2=2, 1=1 - The scores for Category B subjects are converted as follows:

Note 4: “Attained” in Citizenship and Social Development (CSD) will not be included in the admission score calculation. Applicants with Level 2 or above in Liberal Studies subject attained in 2023 or before would be accepted in lieu of CSD for fulfilling the GERs. Following the handling of CSD, results of Liberal Studies subject would not be given any score in score calculation starting from the 2024 entry.

HKBU accepts combined results and will count the best results for meeting the entrance requirements and for the calculation of admissions scores.
