Bachelor of Journalism, Media and Artificial Intelligence 新聞媒體及人工智能學士

BJMAI

Short Description

The Bachelor of Journalism, Media and Artificial Intelligence programme is a technology-driven and communication-focused double-major curriculum for the digital age. The innovative programme integrates core journalistic training with cutting-edge technologies, equipping students to lead, adapt, create media across a wide range of industries.

Students use the journalism, media and AI components to build critical thinking, communication skills, and digital technology expertise. By the end of the four-year programme, they will be able to produce professional quality and deeply researched written work on a variety of subjects, and shoot and story-tell compelling video. Graduates are highly valued by employers in fields like public relations, business, education, government, and of course media.

In their second year, each student will choose another academic major to combine with the journalism, media and AI components, thus creating a bespoke degree that will enable the full exploration of their unique intellectual interests, whether in marketing, economics, finance, counselling, criminology, music, or English studies – to mention just a few of the choices recent graduates have made.

Throughout the programme, the emphasis is on experiential real-world learning. All students will complete at least one summer internship at a media outlet or communication organization. Students also can spend a semester abroad at one of six top overseas journalism and media schools or one of HKU’s partner institutions.

A diverse faculty and student body ensures a lively learning environment that feeds students’ curiosity about the world. Current faculty members of HKU’s Journalism & Media Studies Centre (JMSC) hail from North America, Europe, and Asia, while more than two dozen nationalities are represented among current students and recent graduates. Class size is kept small, to foster classroom discussion as well as the family feeling that makes the JMSC a very special place at HKU.

Remarks:

Besides HKDSE result, reports of school principals, records of extra-curricular activities and campus journalism experience may be considered.
