BEng in Computer Engineering 工學士(計算機工程學)

CPEG

Short Description

The BEng in Computer Engineering program (CPEG) is jointly run by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering. The program aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of both hardware and software, and their cross-interaction in the design of cutting-edge electronic and computer systems.

Well-integrated, Challenging, and Flexible Curriculum

The CPEG program is carefully designed to offer a rich, well-balanced and challenging curriculum. Our curriculum provides training in the software, hardware, architectural, and engineering aspects of computer-based systems to students. Delivered through state-of-the-art facilities, the program covers essential topics such as programming, data structures, computer organization, operating systems, signals, electronic circuits, and embedded systems. Students can tailor their education to their interests through diverse specializations, including artificial intelligence, multimedia, graphics, software engineering, databases, robotics, communications, semiconductors, signal processing, and networking. CPEG integrates the best of both worlds, preparing students for innovative careers in computer engineering.

Broad Career Prospects

Graduates of the CPEG program are equipped with a solid foundation in both hardware and software, opening doors to diverse career opportunities that span multiple fields including applications of information and communication technology. Potential job roles include system analyst, network analyst, application developer, game designer, cloud engineer, full-stack software/hardware engineer, IC design engineer, hardware engineer, data analyst, IT consultant etc. Employers of our graduates include world-class local and international companies across a wide variety of industries.

Remarks:
Students interested in exploring new technologies and emerging topics may opt into the Extended Major in Digital Media and Creative Arts (DMCA) after Year 1. Those enrolled will take extra credits in DMCA alongside their Major Program. By following a structured pathway, students can complete both the Major and the Extended Major within 4 years.
