2027 eligibility

Eligibility Requirements to Apply

Individuals who meet all of the following requirements are eligible to apply via JUPAS: 

  • Not currently enrolled in full-time bachelor's degree programmes available under JUPAS (remains unchanged); and

  • Examination Results: Have obtained the HKDSE Examination results, and / or are registered to sit the HKDSE Examination for the relevant year of JUPAS Admissions Exercise (remains unchanged); and

  • Identity Document(s): Meet as specified under one of the following categories (updated).

Note 1 Holders who were below 18 years old when first issued with such visa / entry permit by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR.

Note 2 Resided in Hong Kong for two years immediately preceding the first day of their respective programmes:

(a) The applicants are enrolled as a full-time student in a school offering a formal curriculum in Hong Kong recognised by the EDB for the two-year period ending on 31 May in the year in which applicants' respective programme begins; OR

(b) For applicants who do not meet (a) above: a Statement of Travel Records of the applicants which can be obtained at a prescribed fee from the Immigration Department of the HKSAR covering the two-year period to demonstrate that the applicant is not absent from Hong Kong for a maximum of 90 days in each year of the two-year period.

2027 JUPAS Admissions Exercise (Transitional Arrangement – One-year Residency Requirement)
  • Under condition (a) above and transitional arrangement, applicants are enrolled as a full-time student in a school offering a formal curriculum in Hong Kong recognised by the EDB for the one-year period ending on 31 May 2027 (i.e. the year in which applicant's respective programme begins).

  • Under condition (b) above and transitional arrangement:

(b1) Applicants are not absent from Hong Kong for a maximum of 90 days in the one-year period.

(b2) The cut-off date for the residency requirement for the JUPAS applications is 31 May of the corresponding year of the JUPAS Admissions Exercise.

(b3) Statement of Travel Records required period: 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027, a maximum of 90 days of absence from Hong Kong during this period.

2028 JUPAS Admissions Exercise onwards (Two-year Residency Requirement) 
  • Under condition (a) above, applicants are enrolled as a full-time student in a school offering a formal curriculum in Hong Kong recognised by the EDB for the two-year period ending on 31 May in the year in which applicant's respective programme begins. 

  • Under condition (b) above:

(b1) Applicants are not absent from Hong Kong for a maximum of 90 days in each year of the two-year period.

(b2) The cut-off date for the residency requirement for the JUPAS applications is 31 May of the corresponding year of the JUPAS Admissions Exercise.

(b3) Statement of Travel Records required period for 2028 JUPAS Admissions Exercise: 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2028

(b3) (i) A maximum of 90 days of absence from Hong Kong from 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027; and

(b3) (ii) A maximum of 90 days of absence from Hong Kong from 1 June 2027 to 31 May 2028.

 Lists of Schools offering a formal curriculum in Hong Kong provided by the EDB: 

(i) Government secondary schools and Government-aided secondary schools

(ii) Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) schools

(iii) International schools / private independent schools / DSS schools offering non-local curriculum

NOT Meeting the Requirements

Individuals who do not meet the above requirements CANNOT apply via JUPAS.  Please check the admission arrangements of individual institutions directly for more information of their application procedures.
