Short Description

City University of Hong Kong offers two brand new and unique undergraduate programmes, BSc Data Science and BEng Data and Systems Analytics*, aimed at nurturing and developing students to become data scientists who are able to create applicable knowledge in order to support social and economic development in Hong Kong and beyond. Data Science focused on solving problems and advancing societies using vast amounts of data such as social media data, search data or sensor data. A data scientist is trained to use these data and extract knowledge from it.

BSc Data Science aimed at educating data scientists with rigorous theoretical knowledge and a solid foundation for exploring new data science methods.

BEng Data and Systems Analytics aimed at educating data scientists with solid understanding of tool and techniques who focus on using data science to solve social and economic applications.

Admission Arrangements in 2019

JUPAS applicants will be considered for admission to first-year studies at the School of Data Science. Students will have a free choice of majors (current major options: BSc Data Science; BEng Data and Systems Analytics) offered by the School after one year of study.

Notes for Elective Subject(s):

  • Entrance requirements are subject to approval.
  • Besides Category A elective subjects, Mathematics extended modules (M1/M2) and "other languages" (at grade E or above) can also be used to meet the elective requirement. If students take both M1 and M2, they are counted as one subject only.
  • Applied Learning subjects are not counted as elective subjects.

Calculation of scores for applicants with more than 1 sitting in HKDSE Examination

CityU accepts repeat results and will count the best results in assessing whether applicants meet the entrance requirements and to calculate admission scores.
