Short Description

The 5-year Full-time Co-terminal Double Degree programme aims to prepare professional Music teachers and community-based artists who possess subject knowledge and demonstrate competency in both education and various forms of arts.  Upon completion of the programme, students will be awarded two degrees, namely a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Creative Arts and Culture [BA(CAC)] degree and a Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Music) [BEd(MU)] degree.  Graduates will process Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in Hong Kong, and the ability to work competently in a broad range of positions such as curators for art museums and galleries, administrators of arts organizations, researchers in cultural studies and musicians, and art educators.

Note: Satisfactory performance in an audition* and a subject interview, in addition to the General Entrance Requirements.

*Applicants who do not take HKDSE Music or obtain Level 3 or below in HKDSE Music are required to participate in the audition.  On the other hand, applicants who obtain Level 4 or above in HKDSE Music will be exempted from the audition.


Preferred subject with the highest weighting for admission score calculation is Music.  However, applicants not taking Music in the HKDSE examination will also be considered.

Remarks:

(i) "Attained with Distinction" in an Applied Learning subject (Category B) will be regarded as having met the requirement of an elective subject.  "Attained with Distinction"/"Attained with Distinction (I)" are comparable to level 3 while "Attained with Distinction (II)" is comparable to level 4 of the Senior Secondary Subjects (Category A).
(ii) "Attained" level will be regarded as a value-added factor to be considered in totality with the Student Learning Profile (SLP) for the purpose of admission.
(iii) Other Language subjects (Category C) will be accepted as unspecified elective subjects.  The minimum requirement is Grade E.
(iv) For non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students who have met the specified circumstances as announced by the Education Bureau (EDB), the University accepts alternative qualifications in Chinese Language (only those under GCE, GCSE, IGCSE, and DSE Applied Learning Chinese (for NCS students)) for the purpose of meeting the minimum entrance requirements.  For programmes which require students to have possessed a good command of Chinese including BEd(Chinese Language), BEd(Chinese History) and BA in Language Studies (Chinese major), waiver of the DSE Chinese Language requirement will not be granted.
(v) Applicants cannot use Extended Part in Mathematics (i.e. Module 1 / Module 2) as a substitute for the Mathematics Compulsory Part, nor can it be counted as an elective subject for the purpose of meeting the General Entrance Requirements.  But the Extended Modules will be used as supporting information for admission to our programmes.

Calculation of scores for applicants with more than 1 sitting in HKDSE Examination

"Combined sittings" is allowed for HKDSE in the calculation of academic scores.  If an applicant has taken the examination in a subject more than once, only the best result for that subject will be counted.  No score deduction for repeated subjects.
