Bachelor of Communication (Hons) in Game Design and Animation 傳理學學士(榮譽) - 遊戲設計與動畫主修

BCOMM(GDA)

Short Description

The Game Design and Animation Major offers a coherent curriculum with emphasis on both game design and computer animation. The holistic learning experience will equip students for a wide range of career opportunities in digital entertainment, arts and culture, as well as to prepare them for more advanced study. The curriculum comprises fundamental courses in game design and animation; from drawing and animating for storytelling to coding, programming and mathematical concepts behind them, as well as social and historical studies of game design and animation. Moreover, students can further develop their expertise in senior years through specialisation in either Advanced Game Design Stream or Advanced Animation Stream to deepen their knowledge and skills for the preparation of their Final Year Honours Projects.

Unique Features

The programme provides a unique professional education in game design and animation with a broad elective study through a comprehensive list of courses offered by Department of Interactive Media, Department of History, Department of Music, and the Academy of Film to enrich students’ liberal arts education learning experience.

Transdisciplinary Second Majors / Second Majors

The University envisions the importance of transdisciplinary innovations in response to the global challenges and offers a flexible curriculum structure that is much more agile and fits the present and yet-to-known future needs. Students will have the opportunity to opt for a transdisciplinary second major (TSM) / second major (SM) on top of their major. TSMs are geared for particular talent needs in Hong Kong and prepare students to pool knowledge from  disciplines to excel in multiple careers, whereas SMs prepare students to gain in-depth knowledge from another discipline to complement the first major. This approach equips students not only for their careers, but also the future development of their respective fields. Nine TSMs / SMs will be launched in the 2025/26 academic year (subject to the approval of the University Senate).

Career Opportunities

Career prospects for graduates include game designer, game programmer, animator, creative professional in digital media such as TV, film, and social media, and content creator in industries such as advertising, branding, online communication, and visual design.
