CityUHK offers a range of services and facilities to help students progress, professionally and personally, throughout their studies. Students can easily find co-curricular opportunities on campus such as sports and cultural activities, interest groups, community service programmes, and other dynamic student activities provided by academic departments, administrative units, or student societies for their personal growth and development of other skills to complement the CityUHK brand of professional education for employability.
Financial Assistance and Scholarships
Students who encounter financial difficulties may apply for various types of financial assistance, such as government grants and/or loans, University bursaries, loans, emergency funds, and temporary student loan funds. Bursaries and loans established by private organizations and inpiduals aim to provide financial assistance to students who face financial hardship. The value of each bursary/loan may range from HK$8,000 to HK$40,000, depending on the financial needs of the applicants. For more details, please click here.
CityUHK is committed to nurturing the talents of students and creating applicable knowledge to support social and economic development. The University has also provided other entrance scholarships, "CityUHK Scholarships for Hong Kong Talents", to recruit bright Hong Kong talented students with excellent HKDSE results. CityUHK Student Development Services
The mission of Student Development Services (SDS) is to enrich the educational experience and holistic development of students at CityUHK. We are committed to nurturing the body, mind, and spirit of students through various direct services, developmental programmes, and funding support, enabling them to attain personal and professional excellence, cultivate a lifelong passion for learning, and contribute to the society. SDS comprises four distinct sections that offer a wealth of development opportunities and resources for our students.
1) Career and Leadership Centre
The Career and Leadership Centre (CLC) is dedicated to helping students realise their career goals, explore options, and equip them with essential employability skills. Our ultimate aim is to enhance students' employability and readiness to meet the challenges of the global workforce upon graduation.
2) Counselling Services
The Counselling Service (CS) provides caring and professional support to students facing psychological difficulties. We also organise a range of supportive programmes and developmental workshops to facilitate students' personal growth and overall well-being.
3) Physical Education
The Physical Education Section (PE) endeavours to develop the physical well-being of students, promote a healthy and fitness-oriented culture within the University community, and foster a strong sense of belonging among students through three core aspects: launching of sports programmes, coaching of sports teams, and provision of sports facilities.
4) Student Life and Services
The Student Life and Resource (SLR) Section aims to provide a vibrant platform that empowers students to expand their horizons and explore their interests. From scholarships and financial aid opportunities to a diverse array of student activities, service-learning programmes, and engaging cultural events, SLR is dedicated to fostering as enriching campus experience that nurtures personal growth and community involvement.

Internship and Exchange Opportunities
CityUHK students have lots of opportunities to participate in local, mainland and overseas internships which enable them to identify their career interests, develop essential workplace generic attributes, practise professional knowledge, broaden work exposure, and establish business networks before they enter the workplace. The Campus Internship Scheme, Global Work Attachment Programme, ITC STEM Internship Scheme, summer internship programmes and other study-related internships/practicums provide CityUHK students with fruitful learning opportunities to acquire and gain real-life work experiences within and outside Hong Kong. A wide array of local, mainland and overseas internship opportunities are offered to CityUHK students from time to time, by government bodies, commercial corporations, and non-profit organisations.
CityUHK also encourages students to participate in exchange programmes, which help to develop their language skills and provide increased awareness of other cultures. We offer credit-bearing programmes with more than 400 partner universities in over 40 Countries/Regions around the world.
Teaching Facilities
CityUHK offers state-of-the-art learning, teaching and research facilities. Venues for teaching and learning include 31 lecture theatres, each with 110 to 300 seats, and well-equipped laboratories and teaching studios. All of our lecture theatres have advanced IT equipment, multimedia facilities and computer terminals connected to the campus network and the Internet.
University Library
The Run Run Shaw Library offers a wide range of services, resources and facilities to support CityUHK’s learning, teaching and research activities. It has a total area of 13,605 square metres and a seating capacity of about 2,700. It provides an environment and facilities that are conducive to both inpidual and collaborative learning.
The Library’s collections include:
- over 1.21 million volumes of print books and bound serials;
- 2.22 million e-books;
- 128,000 e-journal titles;
- 71,000 items of audiovisual materials;
- 224,500 online audiovisual material titles;
- 390 electronic databases; and
- an excellent collection of special materials.
The Library opens daily from 8:30 am to 11:00 pm, with 24-hour access during revision and examination periods.
Computing Services Centre
The Computing Services Centre (CSC) of CityUHK provides best-in-class IT infrastructure and services to support teaching, learning, and research activities in the university. An array of computing devices, including high-performance desktop computers, Apple iMacs and fast printers are deployed in various places on campus for the convenient use of students. The virtual desktop service allows users to access different kinds of university-acquired software from their own devices anywhere on campus. All teaching venues and study rooms at CityUHK are equipped with appropriate and advanced hardware and software that enables face-to-face, online and hybrid teaching and learning modes.
The CSC has implemented a hybrid cloud computing architecture, leveraging both public cloud services and our robust on-premises data centres. With our reliable network infrastructure and the full-coverage Wi-Fi network on campus, students can easily access university systems both on campus and remotely from anywhere. CityUHK strives to provide a smart and integral campus experience for users. The CityUHK mobile app easily let students check their class schedules, contact details, on-campus health centre appointments, resource bookings and even the canteen's occupancy levels right at their fingertips.
In addition to academic activities, the CSC provides an online learning platform offering a variety of self-training courses to improve students' IT skills. On-Campus Facilities
- a 50-metre ozonated swimming pool;
- a table-tennis room;
- physical fitness rooms I & II;
- a practice gymnasium; and
- an outdoor basketball court
Off-Campus Facilities
The Joint Sports Centre on Renfrew Road, jointly owned by CityUHK, Hong Kong Baptist University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, provides various outdoor sports facilities including:
- an IAAF Class II standard all-weather athletic track and field facilities;
- an 11-a-side grass soccer pitch;
- a multi-purpose court for basketball, volleyball, handball or 5-a-side soccer;
- four tennis courts; and
- four-bay golf practice area.
To ensure the whole-person development of CityUHK students, we complement these facilities with physical education courses and other sports and health-related activities. We also provide professional coaching for CityUHK’s sports teams.

Student Residence
The CityUHK Student Residence is a mega-home for 6,000 local and non-local student residents, with an enriched hall life and well-acclaimed multi-cultural integration at two residential compounds situated in Kowloon Tong (11 halls) and Ma On Shan (6 halls) of Hong Kong. Hall life is one of the most valuable and indispensable student experiences.
