Colleges and Schools

Discovery and Innovation

We give our students the opportunity to make an original discovery and position discovery, innovation and creativity at the heart of our academic strategy. Gateway Education (GE) rounds out the specialised training that students receive in their majors by enabling them to achieve breadth of knowledge through exposure to multiple disciplines.

Flagship Programmes

City University is committed to fostering the next generation of young talent with an international outlook and an inspiring mindset. A series of Flagship Programmes has been developed to empower students with vital knowledge and skills, cultivate their global leadership abilities, and connect them with leading professionals. The Flagship Scholarships, which cover tuition and hall fees, a guaranteed berth in the Halls of Residence, and a one-off exchange sponsorship of up to HK$500,000, will be awarded to local talents who meet the criteria.

CityUHK Tiger Programme

City University of Hong Kong launched the CityUHK Tiger Programme to advance society by nurturing the talents of tomorrow and transforming students into future global leaders. The programme targets both newly-admitted undergraduate students with outstanding academic performance as well as high-achieving first-year students. With constant guidance and support from world-class faculty members, these talented students can enrich their knowledge, cultivate their talents in their respective fields of study, and prepare themselves for a promising future. The CityUHK Tiger Programme brings together high-flying students to pursue intellectual excellence and develop their potential through inspirational, interactive, and innovative learning.

New Knowledge

We strongly believe that today’s job market requires our students to understand what it means to create, communicate, curate and cultivate new knowledge for the benefit of society. Our approach introduces students to the world of intellectual property, including patents and copyrights, and encourages them to compete with top students from around the world in competitions for awards.

A large-scale flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme, HK Tech 300 was launched to assist student teams to incubate innovative ideas into start-ups. CityUHK’s students wishing to leverage the University’s intellectual properties to set up start-ups in Hong Kong are welcome to join the Programme.

Global Outlook

Over 13,000 non-local students are studying in degree or short-term programmes. We have over 350 partners in over 40 countries/regions around the world to facilitate student exchanges.

We are further diversifying the student body by increasing the proportion of international students on campus and expanding academic partnerships with premier universities for student and staff exchange, joint research and programme development.

Our aspiration is that at least 65% of our undergraduate students will gain global learning experience from student exchange, internships and cultural immersion, etc.

Through knowledge transfer, the Office aims to forge close ties with industry, business and the wider public for the betterment of Hong Kong and beyond. For details, please click here.
