Main Round Offer

1 Can applicants decline their Main Round offers in order to be reconsidered in the Clearing Round?

NO. Only applicants who do not receive Main Round offer may be considered in the Clearing Round. Applicants who receive a Main Round offer will NOT be considered for admission to any other programmes in the Clearing Round, regardless of whether they accept or decline such offers.

2 If Applicant A places a programme as the first choice and Applicant B, who has better HKDSE Examination results, places the same programme as the third choice, which applicant will be ranked higher?

The programme will be shown as a Band A choice for both applicants. Before the announcement of the Main Round offer results, the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions are provided only with the banding of applicants' programme choices and NOT the exact order in which the choices are placed within each band.

The programme concerned will therefore know that both applicants have placed the programme in Band A, but will not know that Applicant A has placed it as the first choice and Applicant B has placed it as the third choice.

Each programme assigns a rating to every eligible applicant who has selected the programme, based on its own admission criteria. The rating determines each applicant's position on the programme's Merit Order List.

The applicants' positions are not determined solely by their HKDSE Examination results. Depending on the programme's admissions criteria, other considerations may include interview or assessment performance, the banding of the programme choice, other information provided via the applicants' JUPAS accounts, and other relevant admissions considerations.

Whether Applicant A or Applicant B is ranked higher will depend on their respective ratings and positions on the programme's Merit Order List.

3 What should applicants do If they have financial difficulties paying the acceptance fee by the deadline?

Applicants who have financial difficulties paying the acceptance fee before the specified deadline should contact the institutions offering them admissions directly and as soon as possible for advice and assistance.

4 How can applicants check the Main Round offer results if they are outside of Hong Kong when the results are announced?

Applicants may check their Main Round offer results from outside Hong Kong. The results will be announced on 4 August 2027 (9:00 am)* (HKT, i.e. UTC+8) through the following channels:

Applicants' JUPAS accounts;
SMS sent to their registered mobile phone numbers; and
The designated JUPAS icon on the websites of the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions.

Applicants outside Hong Kong should note that the announcement time is based on Hong Kong.

5 What should applicants do if they are outside Hong Kong during the registration / enrolment periods for their Main Round offers?

Applicants who are unable to complete the required registration / enrolment procedures within the specified period by the institutions offering them admission should contact the institutions directly and as soon as possible to enquire whether alternative arrangements can be made.

Applicants who fail to complete the required registration / enrolment procedures within the specified period will be regarded as having declined their Main Round offers. They will NOT be reconsidered for admission to any other programmes under JUPAS in the 2027 – 2028 academic year.

6 If applicants are given Main Round offers after accepting offers outside JUPAS, can they obtain refunds of the fee paid?

Refund arrangements for programme outside JUPAS are determined by the institutions concerned. Applicants should contact the relevant institutions directly for details.
