Alternative Qualifications in Chinese Language (ACL)

1 How will the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions consider applicants who have submitted ACL and also obtained HKDSE Examination results in Chinese Language?

Each institution will determine how the applicant's ACL and HKDSE Examination result in Chinese Language are considered for admission.

Admission decision are made independently by the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions. The JUPAS Office is not involved in determining an applicant's suitability for admission.

Applicants should therefore carefully review the general entrance requirements and individual programme requirements, and the relevant information published on the institutions' websites.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring that they understand and meet all applicable admissions requirements.

2 Will the HKDSE Examination Category B: Applied Learning Chinese (ApL(C)) results not recorded on the HKDSE Examination certificate be obtained from the HKEAA and recorded as ACL in applicants' JUPAS accounts?

NO. If applicants have not applied to the HKEAA to have their ApL(C) results recorded on their HKDSE Examination certificates, the results will not be obtained from the HKEAA by the JUPAS Office, and not be recorded as ACL in their JUPAS accounts

For information about recording the ApL(C) results on the HKDSE Examination certificates, applicants should contact the HKEAA directly.

3 Why are applicants unable to update their ACL information before 21 April 2027 (5:00 pm)?

Once the certification of specified circumstances has been completed, applicants will not be able to update their ACL information, even before 21 April 2027 (5:00 pm).

Applicants who need to make changes should request that the certification be undone by their schools (for school applicants) / the JUPAS Office (for non-school applicants). After updating their ACL information, applicants must request their schools / the JUPAS Office, as applicable, to complete the verification of their ACL and recertify their specified circumstances by 28 April 2027 (5:00 pm).

4 Can screenshots or provisional results be submitted if the original GCE / GCSE / IGCSE certificates showing subject grades have been lost / were not provided by the examination authorities?

NO. Screenshots of results displayed on webpages / in emails, and provisional results, will not be accepted as substitutes under any circumstances.

Applicants who wish to submit the relevant qualifications as ACL should contact the examination authorities concerned to obtain the replacement certificates showing subject grades.

Applicants should allow sufficient time for replacement certificates to be issued. Copies of the replacement certificates must be submitted by the applicable procedures for verification by 28 April 2027 (5:00 pm).

5 How will the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions consider NCS applicants who have HKDSE Examination Category C: Other Language Subjects results, but do not have an HKDSE Examination result in Chinese Language or ACL?

Each institution will determine how the applicant's Category C: Other Language Subjects results are considered for admission. Admission decisions are made independently by the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions. The JUPAS Office is not involved in determining an applicant's suitability for admission.
