1 Do competitions and activities found in the "search results" have higher recognition than those that cannot be found on the list?

NO. Competitions and activities shown in the "search results" do not receive greater recognition than those not shown. The search list is compiled from information submitted by applicants in previous admissions exercises and does not include every competition, activity, or award. Applicants may still enter an item that is not shown in the "search results".

2 How do the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions or the SSSDP institutions consider OEA when assessing applications? Will applicants without OEA entries be disadvantaged?

Each institution determines how OEA is considered under its own admissions criteria.

Depending on the programme concerned, the admissions criteria may include HKDSE Examination results, OEA, interview or assessment performance, and the banding of programme choices. Admission decisions are made independently by the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions. The JUPAS Office does not determine an applicant's suitability for admission.

Applicants should consult the general entrance requirements and individual programme requirements, and the relevant information published on the institutions' websites.

3 Where can applicants submit their personal statements / self-accounts in the JUPAS Online Application System?

There is no designated area in the JUPAS Online Application System for submitting personal statements / self-accounts. Applicants may instead use the "Additional Information" under the OEA to describe an interest or experience that has been particularly meaningful to them or has influenced their personal growth and life goals. The information may be submitted in English or Chinese and must not exceed 500 words.

4 Can applicants save other OEA entries before uploading the supporting documents required for an item selected by the JUPAS Online Application System?

YES. Applicants may save their other OEA entries before uploading the supporting documents required for an item selected by the JUPAS Online Application System.

However, the required supporting documents must be uploaded by 20 January 2027 (5:00 pm). If the documents are not uploaded by the deadline, the selected OEA item will NOT be considered by the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions.

5 Can applicants submit the supporting documents for OEA items not selected by the JUPAS Online Application System?

NO. Applicants are NOT required to submit supporting documents for OEA items that have not been selected by the system. Only supporting documents for selected OEA items, which are highlighted in pink in the JUPAS account, should be uploaded.
