Short Description
Business Degree with Hospitality and Real Estate Focus
The Hospitality and Real Estate programme (HRE) is positioned as a business programme with an industry focus on hospitality and real estate. Our school is the first in the Asia-Pacific region to integrate hospitality and real estate research and education. HRE offers two major streams (Hospitality or Real Estate) and prepares students to work in diversified industries in lodging, MICE, theme parks and attractions, travel and tourism, valuation, leasing and transaction, consultancy, real estate development, finance and asset management.
The HRE programme offers a rich curriculum integrating theory with experiential learning opportunities, HRE puts students right in the heart of the fast-paced hospitality and real estate industries. Our teaching hotel-Hyatt Regency Shatin, the Hyatt Learning Center, demonstration kitchen, and the two SHTM-managed restaurants provide an ideal learning environment for theory-practice integration.
Professional accreditation & 6-months Internship experience
The HRE programme is accredited by AACSB, UNWTO and RICS. RICS is a globally recognized professional institution of chartered surveyors. All our students are required to take 6 months of internship before graduation.
Global Exposures
To enhance students’ global perspective, the programme arranges extensive student exchange opportunities and study tours. Our students have exclusive opportunities to participate in exchange programme with Ivy-League Cornell University, a tri-lateral exchange with the University of Queensland and Mahidol University International College under the Asia-Pacific Hospitality Management Programme, the National University of Singapore and Ritsumeikan Asia-Pacific University in Japan. This creates a wide range of possibilities for students to gain international experience, which is a vital element in the curriculum.
