Professional Accountancy 專業會計學

PROF ACCOUNTANCY

Short Description

Accounting is the language of business. The BBA in Professional Accountancy (PACC) programme is designed to nurture professional accountants and specialists in accounting-related areas. The programme provides students with both accounting and business knowledge, skills and values that will help them become future leaders in the accounting and business communities. On top of academic study, the programme puts a lot of emphasis on developing students’ leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills through co-curricular activities.

Students may specialise in one of the following streams under the PACC programme:

Global Accounting

To cater for the growing demand for high potential, internationally-oriented business leaders, the Global Accounting stream is offered to elite accounting students who aspire to acquire a global mindset as well as an understanding of international accounting and business practices. Students may apply for this stream after completing their first year of study. Students in this stream will sharpen their skillsets and enrich their employment attributes through a range of workshops and non-local study trip. Students in this stream will also be awarded with scholarships based on academic merit.

Global Tax and Governance

The Global Tax and Governance stream is offered in response to an increasing interest of our students to know more about tax and governance issues as well as the profession’s desire to have more accounting graduates who are better versed in these areas. Students under this stream are entitled to the maximum paper exemptions in taking the Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualifying examination offered by the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong (TIHK). Students who are keen to develop a career in the tax advisory and compliance fields may apply.

Finance for Accountants

To maintain and promote the competitiveness of Hong Kong as one of the leading financial centres, it is vital to nurture talents who are knowledgeable in both accounting and finance areas. The Finance for Accountants stream is offered to help students explore the close relationship between accounting practices and finance. Utilising the accounting knowledge learnt in the core curriculum, students are expected to analyse financial information in formulating financial strategies in areas such as corporate finance, portfolio management and international finance.

Accounting Analytics

The term "data analytics" has been one of the hottest buzzwords across all industries recently. Massive portfolio of data presents enormous opportunities in enhancing such business areas as forensic accounting, auditing, marketing, productivity and risk management. An Accounting Analytics stream has been offered since 2019/20. The stream focuses on the development of an analytics mindset emphasising the skills, tools and hands-on practice with cases. Students who would like to be business specialists capable of understanding data analytics and building a robust system to manage data may apply.

Apart from academic courses, the programme invites business professionals to speak to our students regularly with an aim to provide students with practical industry insights and broaden their business exposure. There are also ample opportunities to join exchange and internship programmes and to apply for scholarships.

The PACC programme is well recognised by international and professional accreditation bodies, such as AACSB International, the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), CPA Australia and TIHK. All PACC graduates are eligible to apply for the HKICPA’s qualification programme and to take other professional examinations. Our PACC graduates have outstanding performance in professional examinations and case competitions and are highly sought-after. Other than international professional firms such as the Big-4 CPA firms, a growing number of PACC graduates join organisations in sectors, such as banking and finance, regulatory and compliance as well as consultancy.
