Bachelor of Engineering Elite Programme 工學學士精英課程
BEng(Elite)
Short Description
The Faculty of Engineering aims to nurture highly talented and top-performing engineering students to be future leaders in frontier technology developments and rapidly advancing industries. The training flexibility and curriculum elements for these students are beyond the traditional engineering education requirements to prepare them to take up new challenges in various highly competitive engineering fields, such as, but not limited to, robotics, artificial intelligence, material technology, nanofabrication, semiconductor, construction automation, and sustainable development. Through freely choosing an engineering major, receiving academic/industrial mentorship, and participating in overseas exchanges, students can aim to pursue the most competitive career paths in either academic or industrial direction. Applicants can use one single code, 6303, to apply for the Bachelor of Engineering Elite Programme.
Features of the Elite programme are as follows:
- Freely Choose a BEng Programme from the Followings to Start in Year 2
To fully explore their unique potential, students can freely choose Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Data and Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science of the School of Computer and Data Science (SCDS) as their BEng degree. - Eligible for the BEng X + MScEng AIE Scheme
Elite Programme students are also eligible to choose to enroll in the Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Science in Engineering in Artificial Intelligence in Engineering (BEng X + MScEng AIE) scheme to obtain a BEng Degree and a Master Degree in AI in Engineering in 4+1 Years for more interdisciplinary training. All the details and requirements of BEng X + MScEng AIE scheme are mentioned under programme code 6377. - Special Academic Advisor and Industrial Mentor
The Faculty will provide special academic advisors to guide students in this programme through their curriculum design and overseas exchange choices. Each student will also be assigned an industrial mentor to assist them in learning from state-of-the-art practices in the corresponding industry. - Entrance and Overseas Exchange Scholarships
Each student can receive an entrance scholarship of HKD100,000 and an overseas academic exchange scholarship of HKD50,000 to encourage them to pursue more challenging training opportunities.

Level 3 or above in Mathematics (Extended Module 1 or Module 2) is preferred (but not required).
The calculation of programme score considers category A subjects and may include Mathematics Extended Module 1 or 2 and category C subject. Please refer to hku.hk/dse for details.

- "Attained with Distinction" obtained prior to 2018, or "Attained with Distinction (I)" or "Attained with Distinction (II)" obtained in or after 2018, in Applied Learning subjects (other than Applied Learning Chinese) will be used as additional supporting information. In the meantime, student learning experiences in Applied Learning subjects may be considered within the context of other learning experiences in their application.

Calculation of scores for applicants with more than 1 sitting in HKDSE Examination
In general, most of the programmes offered by HKU consider the best results achieved by candidates in different combination of sittings, except for a few programmes which only consider the latest results.
