Short Description

The Global Engineering and Business Programme is a BEng/BEng(BME) and BBA double degree programme jointly offered by the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Business and Economics. The programme features are as follows:

  • This is an inter-disciplinary programme in which students will acquire professional knowledge in both Engineering and Business in a global perspective.
  • Students will undertake the first four years of study focusing in BEng or BEng(BME) curriculum, with a number of courses in Business. After completion, students will obtain a degree of BEng or BEng(BME). The fifth year of study is leading to the degree of BBA with one of the following majors:
    • Major in Entrepreneurship, Design and Innovation
      (Note: Candidates must undergo a selection process arranged by the Programme Coordinator for EDI)
    • Major in Finance
    • Major in Human Resource Management
    • Major in Information Systems and Analytics
      (Note: Major in ISA is not open to candidates of BEng in Computer Science)
    • Major in Marketing

Remark:

  1. "Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education” is referred to as “HKDSE”.
  2. "Attained with Distinction" obtained prior to 2018, or "Attained with Distinction (I)" or "Attained with Distinction (II)" obtained in or after 2018, in Applied Learning subjects (other than Applied Learning Chinese) will be used as additional supporting information. In the meantime, student learning experiences in Applied Learning subjects may be considered within the context of other learning experiences in their application.
  3. Other Language subjects will be used as unspecified elective subjects. The minimum requirement is Grade E.

Calculation of scores for applicants with more than 1 sitting in HKDSE Examination

In general, most of the programmes offered by HKU consider the best results achieved by candidates in different combination of sittings, except for a few programmes which only consider the latest results.  Few programmes may also impose a penalty on HKDSE repeaters.  The policy on the calculation of scores in combined sittings of HKDSE for the 2021-22 exercise will be finalized at a later stage, which will be posted on our website https://www.hku.hk/dse.

First Year Tuition Fee

HK$ 42,100

The year(s) of study beyond the four-year curriculum are offered on a 'self-financing' basis, which means:

  1. that students studying for these further qualifications will be required to pay composition fees higher than the normal fee; and
  2. that while these students will be eligible for financial assistance under the Government Financial Assistance Scheme and Non-means-tested Loan Scheme, they will not be eligible for other Government loans and grants.
