BBA in Global Business 工商管理學士(環球商業管理)
GBUS
Short Description
The BBA in Global Business (GBUS) program is the first-of-its-kind in Hong Kong. As a highly sought-after business program, we envision developing our capable and highly motivated students to “Create Impacts with a Global and Strategic Mindset” whilst embracing global challenges. This strong and vibrant community, together with GBUS graduates, pursue their dreams of becoming socially responsible global leaders through humility, enthusiasm, cultural sensitivity, and sound critical thinking in today’s fast-changing world.
Learning at GBUS extends beyond the classrooms. With a dynamic and diverse peer group and a strong culture of student initiatives, students can learn a great deal from each other. There are a variety of co-curricular activities for students to connect with the corporate and global community, such as Global Leadership Forum, Mentorship Program, Study Trips, and International Business Case Competitions.
GBUS students have great flexibility in customizing their learning experience. Students can select from a range of additional major(s) and/or minor(s) offered at HKUST, such as Finance, Information Systems, Mathematics, Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, and Social Science to fit their interests and aspiration. All GBUS students spend at least one term studying abroad at top universities, thus forming a wide global network. GBUS students can join the School’s exchange program twice to extend their global learning to different continents.
The GBUS curriculum reflects our focus on cultivating students' global and societal perspectives and developing their strategic business skills through experiential learning. Some signature GBUS courses are “Doing Business in Asia and Emerging Markets”, “Global Business Case Studies”, “ESG Corporate Project”, and “Capstone Project”. Upon completion of their studies, GBUS graduates start their careers in various areas, such as consulting, finance, NGO, startups, and technology, or pursue postgraduate studies.
Extended Major
GBUS students may apply for the extended major in Artificial Intelligence or Digital Media and Creative Arts at the end of the 3rd term of study, if they satisfy the extended major requirement. Students completing the extended major will graduate with a title bearing the traditional major subject they selected and the extended major. For details, please refer to "JS5300 Business & Management".
Remarks:
The Year 1 curricula of JS5313 GBUS and JS5300 B&M are identical. JS5313 allows students who have a special interest in BBA GBUS to begin their GBUS journey right away through participation in various GBUS co-curricular and networking events with GBUS senior students and alumni. Those admitted into JS5300 may apply to enter the GBUS or other business majors via the major selection exercises held at the end of the first three terms. Students interested in GBUS should include either or both JS5313 and JS5300 in their program choices. Please click here for details of JS5300 Business and Management.
Interview is compulsory for admissions. Band A applicants who show talents and potentials for GBUS study will be invited to engagement activities in July 2025. Final interviews by the GBUS program will be conducted in late July 2025.
