BSc in Environmental Management and Technology 理學士(環境管理及科技)

EVMT

Short Description

Sustainability is of paramount importance for the well-being of current and future generations. It is a global challenge that requires the attention and action of every organization. The BSc in Environmental Management and Technology (EVMT) program is at the forefront of tackling the pressing global concerns related to environmental and sustainability issues. This program offers motivated students a unique opportunity to become environmental and sustainability professionals equipped with cross-disciplinary knowledge to develop and implement ecologically and economically sound solutions. Graduates of the program are prepared to take on the role of sustainability managers and environmental professionals in corporations both in Hong Kong and around the globe.

Under the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies, the EVMT program leverages HKUST’s expertise in science, engineering, management, and the social sciences. By examining environmental and sustainability issues from multiple perspectives, students are empowered to integrate different viewpoints and generate innovative ideas and solutions. The program features specially designed courses that cover a wide range of subjects, including environmental technology for impact assessment, environmental law, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management and reporting, green business strategy, energy sources and usage, sustainable development, and life cycle assessment.

In the final year of study, students have the opportunity to put theory into practice through the Capstone Project, where they work on real-world problems with companies and NGOs. The program also emphasizes practical experience through internships and exchanges, allowing students to develop their social skills, effective communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities. EVMT is accredited by the Hong Kong Institute of Qualified Environmental Professionals (HKIQEP).

Career Prospects

Graduates of the EVMT program are well-equipped to pursue rewarding careers in multinational firms, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations. With their integrated academic and practical training, they are uniquely positioned to meet the growing demand for environmental and sustainability professionals in various sectors.
