BEng (Hons) Scheme in Aviation Engineering (Aviation Engineering / Air Transport Engineering) 航空工程學(榮譽)工學士組合課程 (航空工程學 / 民航工程學)

AVIATION ENGG

Short Description

The scheme has the following characteristics:

  • It aims to train students to become engineers in the aviation industry.
  • Students will have the opportunity to opt for:
    • BEng (Hons) in Aviation Engineering, embarking on aircraft systems and design; or
    • BEng (Hons) in Air Transport Engineering, embarking on aviation operation and research.
  • Some subjects are co-taught by PolyU academics and industry professionals to provide students with up-to-date knowledge in the aviation industry.
  • Summer internships, technical visits and experience sharing will be arranged to enhance students’ learning with experience in the aviation industry.

Remarks:

  • The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Scheme in Aviation Engineering includes the following two awards:
    • BEng (Hons) in Aviation Engineering
    • BEng (Hons) in Air Transport Engineering
  • Students are allowed to enrol in any award programme without being subject to further assessment.

Deferred Choice between BEng (Hons) in Aviation Engineering and BEng (Hons) in Air Transport Engineering
Students who are admitted to the Scheme study together during the first two years and then pursue their preferred programmes, normally within the next two years, until graduation. This arrangement enables students to choose their study path once they have obtained a solid understanding of the programmes during the first two years.

Admission to BEng (Hons) in Aviation Engineering or BEng (Hons) in Air Transport Engineering
Students who wish to enrol in either the BEng (Hons) in Aviation Engineering or the BEng (Hons) in Air Transport Engineering programme should apply for admission to the BEng (Hons) Scheme in Aviation Engineering.

For HKDSE repeaters who took “Liberal Studies” in 2023/24 or before and have not taken "Citizenship and Social Development" in 2024/25 and thereafter, "Level 2" or above in "Liberal Studies" would be regarded as "Attained" in "Citizenship and Social Development" for fulfilling the general entrance requirement. However, "Liberal Studies" would not be recognized for meeting the elective requirement of the general entrance requirement in 2024/25 and thereafter. The level attainment of the subject would not be included in the admission score calculation.

Flexibilities on admission selection are available as follows:
  1. Individual schemes / programmes will accept one relevant Applied Learning (ApL) subject for meeting the entrance requirements. An attainment at Attained with Distinction (I) level or above / Attained with Distinction (obtained in 2017 or before) is required.
  2. Other Language subjects (i.e. Category C) offered in the HKDSE Examination will be accepted as elective subjects. Grade E or above is required.
