Request for Reconsideration of Application Based on Upgraded HKDSE Examination Results on Subject Levels / Grades after Rechecking and Remarking

Eligibility

Applicants with upgraded HKDSE Examination results on subject levels / grades after rechecking and remarking (RR results) are eligible to submit requests for reconsideration of their applications based on RR results WITH or WITHOUT modifications of programme choices, regardless of whether they have been given or have accepted their Main Round offers.

Points to Note

Eligible applicants submitting requests for reconsideration of applications based on RR results can be assured that they will NOT be disadvantaged in any respect if

  1. they can fulfil all the necessary entrance requirements of the programmes concerned; and

  2. their new positions on the respective merit order lists (redetermined taking into account their RR results, banding of programme choices, interview performance, if applicable, and other factors) are higher than the Main Round cut-off points (i.e. the last applicant admitted) of the programmes concerned.

Having fulfilled the above requirements, these applicants will be offered admissions to the programmes concerned, regardless of whether the quotas of those programmes have already been filled.

Important Notes to Applicants WITH Main Round Offers

Applicants WITH Main Round offers should place the programmes they wish to be reconsidered for "better" offers ABOVE the programmes they have been offered in the Main Round in the programme choice lists.  Only the programmes placed ABOVE those which applicants have been offered in the Main Round will be reconsidered by the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and / or the SSSDP institutions.

Applicants are NOT allowed, at this stage, to delete the programmes they have been offered in the Main Round or to place such programmes as their first choice, otherwise their requests for reconsideration of applications based on RR results will not be processed.

Once applicants are given "better" offers (i.e. the highest preferred programmes of their choices, and also the FINAL offers in the same academic year (2022 – 2023)) after reconsideration of their applications based on RR results, their original Main Round offers will be withdrawn regardless of whether they have paid the acceptance fees of HK$5,000 / indicated their acceptance of the "better" offers via their JUPAS accounts (as appropriate) or completed their registration / enrolment procedures at the institutions offering them admissions.  They will NOT be reconsidered for admission to any other programmes offered under JUPAS in the same academic year (2022 – 2023).

In this regard, applicants who are already satisfied with their Main Round offers and / or do not wish to be reconsidered for "better" offers NEED NOT submit requests for reconsideration of applications based on RR results.

Procedure

Eligible applicants can submit requests for reconsideration of applications based on RR results via their JUPAS accounts within their allocated time-slot of 18 August 2022 (9:00 am – 6:00 pm)* WITH or WITHOUT modifying their programme choices.

Step 1: Preparation for Submitting Requests WITH Modification of Programme Choices

Applicants should:

Step 2: Modification AND Submission of Programme Choices to "My CONFIRMED Programme Choices"

During this period (i.e. 18 August 2022 (9:00 am – 6:00 pm)*), such applicants can, if they so wish, modify their programme choices they have selected as at the deadline for updating of programme choices (i.e. 1 June 2022 (11:59 pm)) in any of the following options only ONCE free of charge:

  • REPLACE up to 5 programme choices on the programme choice lists with new programmes / ADD a maximum of 5 new programmes to the original programme choice lists (as long as the total number of programme choices does not exceed 20)
  • CHANGE the preference order of the programme choices

  • DELETE programmes from the programme choice lists

Applicants should note that any programme choices contained in "My DRAFT Programme Choices" are their working drafts only and would NEITHER be:

  1. considered by the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions; nor

  2. automatically submitted to "My CONFIRMED Programme Choices" under any circumstances.

Applicants are therefore strongly reminded that they MUST submit their programme choices contained in "My DRAFT Programme Choices" to "My CONFIRMED Programme Choices" in order to be considered by the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and / or the SSSDP institutions.

After this, a one-time only late submission / further modification (based on the programme choice lists as at the deadline for updating of programme choices (i.e. 1 June 2022 (11:59 pm))) can be accepted for a fee of HK$250.  Applicants who wish to request for late submissions / further modifications should contact the JUPAS Office via phone as soon as possible and no later than our Office's telephone enquiry service hours (i.e. until 18 August 2022 (7:00 pm)*).

This one-time only late submissions / further modifications MUST be completed by 18 August 2022 (7:00 pm)*.  No further payment and / or change will be accepted after this deadline.

Step 3: Confirmation of Successful Submission of Requests WITH Modification and Submission of Programme Choices

After successful submission of requests with modification of programme choices,

  1. applicants should see a confirmation page showing the programme choices they have selected and saved in their JUPAS accounts.  They should print the confirmation pages as record of the programme choices they have selected and submitted;

  2. applicants will also receive emails#(containing their CONFIRMED programme choices) and SMS^ from the JUPAS Office upon successful submission of their requests with modifications of programme choices.

    It is applicants' responsibilities to check for such messages.  Applicants should enquire at the JUPAS Office immediately if they do not receive such messages after completing the relevant procedures.

    Applicants should retain copies of the confirmation page and confirmation emails as proof that their requests and programme choices have successfully been submitted and modified respectively.  In the event of any disputes or queries, the JUPAS Office will ONLY accept these printed pages as official evidence.  No other documentation in hard copy or electronic form will be accepted.
  3. applicants are also advised to log on their JUPAS accounts again to check and confirm that their programme choices have successfully been modified and saved.

Eligible Applicants Who Wish to Submit Requests for Reconsideration of Applications Based on RR Results WITHOUT Modifications of Programme Choices

Such applicants should note that their programme choices as at the deadline for modification of programme choices after the release of the HKDSE Examination results will be considered by the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and / or the SSSDP institutions.

  1. applicants should see a confirmation page showing the programme choices saved in their JUPAS accounts (as at the deadline for modification of programme choices after the release of the HKDSE Examination results).  They should print the confirmation pages for their own record;

  2. applicants will also receive emails#(containing their CONFIRMED programme choices) and SMS^ from the JUPAS Office.

    It is applicants' responsibilities to check for such messages.  Applicants should enquire at the JUPAS Office immediately if they do not receive such messages after completing the relevant procedures.

Extended Enquiry Service Hours on 18 August 2022*

To facilitate the submission of requests for reconsideration of applications based on RR results, the enquiry service hours of the JUPAS Office will be 8:45 am – 7:00 pm on 18 August 2022*.

As email is one of the channels that the JUPAS Office, the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions will use to communicate with applicants, applicants must ensure that the setting of their personal email accounts will not filter out or place such correspondence in the trash / junk bins.

^ Emails and SMS are delivered via third party network providers and therefore the JUPAS Office is not responsible for any delay, loss, transfer, amendment or damage arising from the transmission process via third party network providers.

Should there be any discrepancies between information contained in emails and SMS and applicants' JUPAS accounts, the information contained in the latter (i.e. the JUPAS accounts) is final.

Applicants are strongly advised to log on their JUPAS accounts to double-check the related information.

Since important messages and correspondence from the JUPAS Office, the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions will be sent via applicants' mobile phone numbers and / or mailing addresses, applicants SHOULD NEVER share their mobile phone numbers or mailing addresses with other applicants in order to protect any information related to their JUPAS applications.
