About JUPAS
Main Round Offer
NO. The JUPAS Office is NOT responsible for the selection of applicants for admission to the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions. The role of the JUPAS Office is solely to facilitate the administration of the applications process.
The determination of applicants' suitability for admission is solely the decisions of the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions, and is independent of the JUPAS Office. Enquiries regarding the institutions' decisions on admissions should be directed to the respective institutions.
Merit order lists are rating lists compiled by each programmes offered by the 9 JUPAS participating-institution and the SSSDP institution. They are NOT compiled by the JUPAS Office. Such decisions are therefore independent of the JUPAS Office.
Each programme offered by the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions will assign a rating to eligible applicants who have selected the programme based on its own selection criteria. This rating determines applicants' positions in each merit order list on their programme choices list.
JUPAS will perform the "iteration process", which matches the applicants' positions in the merit order list of each programme on applicants' confirmed programme choice lists with the order of preferences they have assigned to their programme choices. Applicants will be given an offer of the highest priority on their programme choice lists for which they have met the required rating.
Please refer to the section on Iteration Process for more information.
Allocation of the weighting of core subjects and elective subjects and the determination of applicants' suitability for admission is solely the decisions of the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions, and is independent of the JUPAS Office. Enquiries regarding the institutions' decisions should be directed to the respective institutions.
Applicants should review carefully the general entrance requirements and individual programme requirements and the websites of the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions for further information.
Applicants, who have received Main Round offers, should consider accepting them (based on different scenarios metioned below), regardless of whether the Main Round offers are UGC-funded programmes, HKMU self-financing programmes or SSSDP programmes, because the Main Round offers are the BEST AND ONLY offers to be made in the same academic year (2026 – 2027) and are of the highest possible priority on their programme choice lists (in the event that applicants do not have RR results, or do not receive "better" offers after submitting a requests for reconsideration of applications based on RR results).
Only applicants whose HKDSE Examination results have been upgraded on subject levels / grades after rechecking and remarking (RR Results), regardless of whether they have been given / have accepted their Main Round offers, are eligible to submit requests for reconsideration of their applications based on RR results WITH or WITHOUT modifications of programme choices.
Please refer to the section on Rechecking and Remarking of HKDSE Examination Results for more information.
NO. Applicants with Main Round offers have been given offers of the highest possible priority on their programme choice lists and thus the Main Round offers they received are the BEST AND ONLY offers▲ possible, regardless of whether they are UGC-funded programmes, HKMU self-financing programmes or SSSDP programmes. They will therefore NOT be reconsidered for admission to any other programmes in the Clearing Round, regardless of whether they accept or decline such offers.
Applicants who fail to pay the acceptance fee by the deadline (6 August 2026 (5:00 pm)*) and / or fail to complete the registration / enrolment procedures at the respective institutions within the period specified will be regarded as having declined their Main Round offers. They will NOT be reconsidered for admission to any other programmes under JUPAS in the same academic year (2026 – 2027)▲.
Please refer to the Summary of Announcement and Acceptance of Offers Arrangements for more information.
▲ Except for applicants with upgraded HKDSE Examination results on subject levels / grades after rechecking and remarking (RR results) who submit requests for reconsideration of applications based on the RR results and are subsequently made "better" offers
The 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions are only provided a general indication of how applicants rank their programme choices. They DO NOT have access to the actual priority of the programme choices until after the announcement of the Main Round offer results. The preferences of the applicants are shown in 5 bands to the institutions.
In the above example, the programme concerned does not know that Applicant A has placed its programme as his / her first choice, or that Applicant B has placed it as his / her third choice. In the point of view of the institutions, they are both Band A programmes.
Each programme of the 9 JUPAS participating-institutions and the SSSDP institutions will assign a rating to eligible applicants who have selected the programme, based on its own selection criteria. This rating will determine applicants' positions in each merit order list of their programme choices. Whether Applicant A or Applicant B will ultimately be admitted will depend on their respective positions in the programme's merit order list.
In determining applicants' positions in the respective merit order lists, institutions' programmes will consider NOT ONLY the HKDSE Examination results, but also other aspects (e.g. performance in interviews and / or assessments, banding of programme choices, HKDSE Examination results of other applicants in the same year, the number of applicants applying, and any additional information provided by applicants in their JUPAS accounts).
Please refer to the section on Iteration Process for more information.
