To nurture bright minds to become leaders of tomorrow, PolyU puts strong emphasis on Service-Learning, Leadership Training and Work-Integrated Education.
PolyU is the first institution in Hong Kong to launch the credit-bearing Service-Learning programme, which connects professional education with societal needs, providing opportunities for students to apply their knowledge in improving the lives of those less fortunate.
In addition, PolyU provides students with a wide variety of leadership development programmes in the Chinese mainland and overseas countries through its Global Youth Leadership and Service-Learning Institute, aiming to nurture the mindset, knowledge and skills needed to become the leaders of tomorrow.
Another unique feature of PolyU’s undergraduate programme is our mandatory Work-Integrated Education (WIE) programme that requires students to engage in authentic projects or work as interns in an organisational context. With a variety of local and offshore intern opportunities offered in Hong Kong, Chinese mainland and overseas countries and regions, WIE enables our students to attain workplace readiness before graduation, thus enhancing their competitiveness.
Global and Mainland Exposure
PolyU’s extensive global connections help broaden the international perspectives of future generations. The Belt and Road Initiative has further given a new momentum to the University’s effort to internationalise and broaden students’ outlook. Also, PolyU has a solid presence in the Chinese mainland, with six regional centres established in Shenzhen, Sichuan, Hangzhou, Xi’an, Beijing and Shanghai.
We have established strategic partnerships with universities, institutions, industries and corporations all over the world to offer study, exchange, internship and Service-Learning opportunities for students to learn without borders and unleash their talents under different cultures.
In particular, our Student Exchange Programme offers the opportunity to study in over 230 renowned universities across 37 countries and regions. Every year, some 700 PolyU students go on exchange and a similar number of inbound exchange students come to the University.
