Short Description
Mechanical Engineering is one of the most versatile and impactful engineering disciplines, shaping the systems, technologies, and innovations that drive modern society. From robots, aircrafts, vehicles, and advanced manufacturing systems to sustainable energy technologies, medical devices, and intelligent machines, mechanical engineers play a central role in solving real-world challenges and creating the technologies of the future.
The BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering provides students with a strong foundation in core engineering sciences, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, materials, dynamics, control, design, and manufacturing. Through a combination of theory, hands-on projects, laboratory work, and design-based learning, students develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and creative mindset needed to engineer effective and sustainable solutions.
The programme also offers opportunities for students to explore specialized and emerging areas such as robotics and automation, aerospace engineering, biomedical engineering, energy and environmental systems, advanced materials, nanotechnology, product design, and smart manufacturing. In the meantime, student learning experiences in Applied Learning subjects may be considered within the context of other learning experiences in their application.

Calculation of scores for applicants with more than 1 sitting in HKDSE Examination
In general, most of the programmes offered by HKU consider the best results achieved by candidates in different combination of sittings, except for a few programmes which only consider the latest results.
