BBA in Management 工商管理學士(管理學)

MGMT

Short Description

The MGMT program prepares students to succeed in today's competitive business world by teaching them to evaluate the current needs of an organization while anticipating future needs. MGMT students will acquire a broad range of skills and knowledge for managing people and resources effectively.

Our comprehensive MGMT curriculum teaches students how to strategically formulate organizational goals for the short-/long-term. Students will systematically study decision-making processes, carefully design organizational structures, tactfully solve business problems, and thoroughly understand the human motivations behind them all. MGMT students are trained to be skilled in the key aspects of management, which includes planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling organizations. These professional management skills are essential to drive business growth and help businesses accomplish their strategic goals.

The Management Department recently introduced three academic Options for students to develop their specialty. The three Options, namely the 'CSR and Sustainability Option', the 'Consulting Option', and the “Human Resources Option”, help prepare students to meet the emerging yet challenging marketplace trends.

In addition, MGMT students are offered an excellent array of courses to suit their own academic interests. These courses include: Organizational Behavior, Negotiation, Management in Chinese Contexts, Human Resources Management, Strategic Management, International Management, etc.  The Management Department also provides specialized studies in Entrepreneurship for students interested in running their own businesses.

Employers in both the private and public sectors put great value on graduates who have taken the time to systematically develop the relevant business and practical management skills.

MGMT can truly be the key to your success. Contact the MGMT Department for more information.

Extended Major

MGMT students may apply for the extended major in Artificial Intelligence or Digital Media and Creative Arts at the end of the 3rd term of study, if they satisfy the extended major requirement. Students completing the extended major will graduate with a title bearing both the traditional major subject they selected and the extended major. For details, please refer to "JS5300 Business & Management".

Remarks:

The Year 1 curricula of JS5315 MGMT and JS5300 B&M are identical: JS5315 allows students who have a special interest in BBA MGMT to directly enter the major. Those admitted to JS5300 may apply to enter MGMT or other business majors via the major selection exercises held at the end of the first three terms. Students interested in MGMT should include either or both JS5315 and JS5300 in their program choices. Please click here for details of JS5300 Business and Management.

Band A applicants who show talent and potential for business study will be invited to engagement activities organized by HKUST Business School in May–June 2024.
