BMEG

Short Description

Biomedical Engineering (BME) is a fast-growing interdisciplinary field in which engineering and technology are innovatively applied to solve biological and medical problems for mankind. Our BEng (Hons) programme in BME is jointly supported by Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Medicine, and coherently organized under BME Department to facilitate student learning on campus, in hospitals, and with internships local and overseas.

The specialty areas of the programme are:

  • Medical Instrumentation and Biosensors;
  • Biomedical Imaging, Informatics and Modeling; and
  • Molecular, Cell and Tissue Engineering.

Our BME graduates work in hospitals, universities, government departments, healthcare companies, medical device companies, other public organisations as well as industries. The careers available to graduates include innovation and entrepreneurship, research and development, manufacturing, technical marketing and sales, clinical engineering and regulatory affairs.

In addition, our graduates also pursue further studies in various engineering and medical disciplines in local and overseas institutions, some all the way to PhD. Our top students with interest and track record in research are eligible for potential enrollment in the CUHK MBChB programme on an accelerated track.
