PROF ACCOUNTANCY

Short Description

The BBA in Professional Accountancy (PACC) programme emphasises that accounting is an information system used to collect, measure, report, and analyse information for the purpose of reflecting operating performance and financial position, improving firm management, and creating firm value.

With this mindset, the PACC programme offers a comprehensive and cutting-edge curriculum for students to develop a strong foundation in accounting, finance, data analytics, and general business. Furthermore, the programme offers enriched extracurricular activities, interactive workshops and a vibrant environment to cultivate visionary business leaders equipped with a leadership mindset, advanced communication skills and outstanding professional conduct.

Our graduates have achieved remarkable careers across diverse industries, including accounting, banking, consulting, education, public service, and technology industries, thriving in roles such as accountants, bankers, data analysts, investment advisors, educators, project managers, public servants, and entrepreneurs.

The PACC programme is globally renowned and endorsed by leading professional accreditation bodies. Graduates gain a competitive edge with exemptions from multiple subjects in various qualification exams, such as those offered by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), paving the way for a successful career in the business world.

PACC students can choose to specialise in various streams in addition to the core accounting courses, including Global Accounting, Finance for Accountants, Accounting Analytics, and Global Tax and Governance.

Global Accounting

This highly selective stream is designed for elite accounting students who aspire to become business leaders with a global mindset as well as comprehensive understanding of international accounting and business practices. Students may apply for this stream after completing their first year of study. Students in this stream will sharpen their skills and gain global insights through a range of specialised workshops and overseas study trips. They will also be awarded with scholarships for academic excellence. This exclusive programme provides a gateway to a global career in accounting, finance and business leadership, preparing students to excel in a globalised economy.

Finance for Accountants Stream

As a premier global financial hub, Hong Kong has seen a rising demand for talented professionals capable of integrating accounting and financial knowledge. The PACC programme responds to this growing demand by offering the Finance for Accountants stream. Students in this stream are expected to take core accounting courses alongside a comprehensive set of finance courses. By integrating their expertise in both accounting and finance, students are well-prepared for careers in the financial sector, specialising in areas such as banking, corporate finance, portfolio management, international finance, and financial market regulation.

Accounting Analytics Stream

With the rapid expansion of data volumes and advanced computational tools, deriving deep insights from diverse business data has become increasingly important for decision-making. Consequently, various organisations, including banks, firms, and regulators, are actively seeking accountants with solid skills in big data analytics to help them deepen their insights into their business through accounting and other related data. The PACC programme offers the Accounting Analytics stream to meet this increasing demand for professionals capable of analysing big data with expertise in accounting knowledge. Students in this stream will take multiple data analytics courses in addition to core accounting courses. Graduates are equipped with both accounting expertise and proficiency in data analytics, positioning them for success in accounting, finance, consulting and other business roles that demand advanced data analysis.

Global Tax and Governance Stream

With tax regulations and monitoring becoming increasingly complex on a global scale, the demand for skilled tax professionals with accounting expertise has been growing significantly. The Global Tax and Governance stream addresses the increasing demand for accounting graduates with proficiency in accounting, taxation, compliance, and governance. Students in this stream will take core accounting courses with additional specialised tax courses. In addition to the paper exemptions from several accounting professional qualification exams, students in this stream can also receive paper exemptions for the Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualifying examination offered by the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong (TIHK). Graduates typically pursue career in tax advisory and compliance.
