Mechanical and Automation Engineering 機械與自動化工程學

MAEG

Short Description

The Mechanical and Automation Engineering (MAE) Programme of CUHK aims at offering solid education and cutting-edge research opportunities around two aspects of engineering: (1) the proper physical interaction of engineering systems with the physical world through force, heat, and energy ("Mechanical"); and (2) the self-operability of the systems demanding minimum intervention from humans ("Automation"). MAE seeks to design and control such interaction based upon fundamental knowledge on rigid body mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and conservation of mass and energy. It is also desired that engineering systems do not just do what is instructed but exhibit certain degree of autonomy in their operations, based upon knowledge on mechatronics, robotics and control.

Calculation of scores for applicants with more than 1 sitting in HKDSE Examination

Most programmes offered by CUHK consider the best results in the same subject taken by a candidate in more than one sitting of HKDSE.  Some programmes may have specific arrangements and the admission scores of candidates seeking admission on the strength of results from more than one sitting of HKDSE may be adjusted.  Details of calculation of scores in more than one sitting of HKDSE for the 2024-25 entry will be finalised and posted at the admissions website (admission.cuhk.edu.hk).
