Short Description
Information Engineering discipline deals with the generation, distribution, analysis, and use of information, data, and knowledge in systems for building a smart and secure information society. The comprehensive yet flexible curriculum unlocks a broad spectrum of career opportunities in various sectors to our students, such as:
- Data generation/coordination: Internet-of-things/Cyber-physical systems
- Distribution: Wireless and optical (beyond-5G) communications, computer networks
- Analysis: Artificial intelligence, big-data analytics, computer vision
- Processing: Multimedia, cloud computing
- Protection: Cybersecurity, cryptography, privacy, blockchain, e-payment
- Theoretical aspects: Information theory, signal processing, machine learning, control theory

Calculation of scores for applicants with more than 1 sitting in HKDSE Examination
Most programmes offered by CUHK consider the best results in the same subject taken by a candidate in more than one sitting of HKDSE. Some programmes may have specific arrangements and the admission scores of candidates seeking admission on the strength of results from more than one sitting of HKDSE may be adjusted. Details of calculation of scores in more than one sitting of HKDSE for the 2025-26 entry will be finalised and posted at the admissions website (admission.cuhk.edu.hk).
