Global Communication 全球傳播

GLOBAL COMM

Short Description

The Global Communication programme offers a specialized pathway to equip students with knowledge and skills to master the production, circulation, and reception of media and information in our globalized world. It is the first of its kind to combine a rigorous training in journalism and communication studies and a guaranteed academic exchange. Students will gain professional insights from local veteran practitioners, cutting-edge knowledge by world-leading communication scholars, and global mindset by studying in one of our partner universities across Asia, Europe, and North America.

The programme stresses both theory and practice. The theoretical component of the programme examines the influence of the macro social and political environment on the global flow of media and information, as well as the challenges and opportunities brought by global digital platforms. The practical component engages students with real-world production of the School’s English news practicum magazine, Varsity, and elective courses in integrated marketing communication and creative media. There is also an overseas field study where students, under the supervision of their teachers, conduct original research and media production.

Graduates are prepared to enter a wide range of careers worldwide, including transnational corporations, multinational news organisations, global advertising and public relations organisations, international entertainment enterprises, non-government organisations, inter-governmental organisations, and more.
