Global Engineering and Business Programme 環球工程與商業課程

Short DescriptionUpdated
Jointly offered by the Faculty of Engineering and the HKU Business School, the Global Engineering and Business Programme (GEBP) will equip students with professional knowledge in both engineering and business within a global context. Upon completion of the five-year double degree programme, students will earn a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). The programme features are as follows:
- This interdisciplinary programme empowers students to develop the mindset and skills for engineering excellence and business innovation.
- During their five years of study, students will enjoy full access to the comprehensive learning resources offered by both Faculties. For examples, scholarships, exchange opportunities, enrichment activities, career support, etc.
- Available Engineering Majors:
- Civil Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Data & Systems Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Available Business Majors:
- Entrepreneurship, Design and Innovation (Note: Candidates must undergo a selection process arranged by the Programme Coordinator for EDI)
- Finance
- Human Resource Management
- Information Systems and Analytics
- Marketing
- All GEBP students are required to complete at least one overseas exchange program prior to graduation.
- The fifth year is offered on self-financing basis (at a slightly higher tuition rate)*.
Professional Recognition
All BEng programmes now being offered under the code 6937 are accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE).
Students of the BBA programme are eligible to enrol in the CGMA Finance Leadership Program and kickstart their journey to become a member of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a Chartered Global Management Accountant while they are studying at the University.
*Students enrolled in the fifth year may still apply for financial assistance under the Government Non-means Tested Loan Scheme, subject to the prevailing regulations of the Scheme.

Remark:
- "Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education” is referred to as “HKDSE”.
- "Attained with Distinction" obtained prior to 2018, or "Attained with Distinction (I)" or "Attained with Distinction (II)" obtained in or after 2018, in Applied Learning subjects (other than Applied Learning Chinese) will be used as additional supporting information. In the meantime, student learning experiences in Applied Learning subjects may be considered within the context of other learning experiences in their application.
- Level 2 in Liberal Studies achieved in previous sitting will be considered in lieu of Citizenship and Social Development.
- Other Language subjects will be used as unspecified elective subjects. Please refer to hku.hk/dse for details.
- The result(s) of Combined Science and Integrated Science achieved in previous sitting(s) will also be considered.
Calculation of scores for applicants with more than 1 sitting in HKDSE Examination
In general, most of the programmes offered by HKU consider the best results achieved by candidates in different combination of sittings, except for a few programmes which only consider the latest results. Few programmes may also impose a penalty on HKDSE repeaters. Please refer to https://www.hku.hk/dse for details.
First Year Tuition Fee
HK$ 47,000
The year(s) of study beyond the four-year curriculum are offered on a 'self-financing' basis, which means:
- that students studying for these further qualifications will be required to pay composition fees higher than the normal fee; and
- that while these students will be eligible for financial assistance under the Government Financial Assistance Scheme and Non-means-tested Loan Scheme, they will not be eligible for other Government loans and grants.
