BEng in Biomedical Engineering 生物醫學工程學

BMEG

Short Description

Biomedical Engineering (BME) is a fast-growing interdisciplinary field in which engineering and technology are innovatively applied to solve biological and medical problems for mankind. Our BEng (Hons) programme in BME is jointly supported by Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Medicine, and coherently organized under BME Department to facilitate student learning on campus, in hospitals, and with internships local and overseas.

The specialty areas of the programme are:

  • Medical Instrumentation and Biosensors;
  • Biomedical Imaging, Informatics and Modeling; and
  • Molecular, Cell and Tissue Engineering.

BME graduates work in hospitals, universities, government departments, other public organisations as well as industries. The careers available to graduates include innovation and entrepreneurship, research and development, manufacturing, technical marketing and sale, clinical engineering and regulatory affairs.

Around 27% of our graduates pursue further studies in various engineering and medical disciplines, some all the way to PhD. Our top students with interest and track record in research are eligible for potential enrollment in the CUHK MBChB programme on an accelerated track.

Most programmes offered by CUHK consider the best results in the same subject taken by a candidate in more than one sitting of HKDSE.  Some programmes may have specific arrangements and the admission scores of candidates seeking admission on the strength of results from more than one sitting of HKDSE may be adjusted.  Details of calculation of scores in more than one sitting of HKDSE for the 2024-25 entry will be finalised and posted at the admissions website (admission.cuhk.edu.hk).
