Materials Science and Engineering 材料科學與工程學

MATERIALS SCI & ENG

Short Description

Materials are the underpinning component of almost all kinds of technologies. Innovative materials are critical to the advancement of microelectronics, advanced manufacturing, new energy and green technology, biomedicine and biotechnology, aviation and aerospace engineering. In the Government’s I&T Development Blueprint, advanced manufacturing, new energy vehicles, and semiconductor chips are particularly highlighted as the focused technology industries to be promoted for their strategic significance in Hong Kong.

The Materials Science and Engineering programme (MASE) is intended to be untraditional and forward-looking to anticipate the future need in targeted technology areas. It aims to provide comprehensive education on scientific knowledge and engineering skills across multiple disciplines related to advanced materials and their innovative applications. Observing the high demand for scientists and engineers in the areas of advanced materials, the MASE major curriculum emphasizes on emerging materials with new functions, including nanomaterials, energy materials, electronic materials, smart materials, biomaterials, etc.
