Department of Industrial Engineering and Decision Analytics 工業工程及決策分析學系

IEDA

Short Description

Industrial Engineering and Decision Analytics is the engineering discipline focused on making smart decisions based on domain-specific knowledge, data, models and analysis.

Students enter the Department of Industrial Engineering and Decision Analytics can enroll in one of the following majors:

  • BEng in Decision Analytics (DA)
    - with a concentration in Financial Engineering / Consulting Services

Our major in Decision Analytics is designed to equip students to meet the current and future societal needs of the knowledge economy. Students enrolled in this program are trained to analyze real-world data, build and fit models that are consistent with this data, develop algorithms, simulate models, and design process and system innovations to find optimal solutions to important decision problems. Graduates pursue careers in domain-specific areas such as financial engineering or consulting services, including risk management, supply and demand analytics, e-commerce, revenue optimization, healthcare analytics, and even sports analytics.

  • BEng in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management (IEEM)

Our major in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management equips students with predictive and prescriptive analytical tools, statistical models, machine learning algorithms, simulation, and creative modeling, aligning with the needs of the modern economy. Graduates pursue careers in domain-specific areas, ranging from operations planning and scheduling to transportation systems and policies, from supply chain management to quality control, and from product design to the management of technology and innovation.

Both of our programs are accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), and BEng in IEEM is also accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport in Hong Kong, allowing our graduates to become recognized professional engineers worldwide.

To recognize outstanding students and nurture the next generation of leaders in Decision Analytics and Financial Engineering, the IEDA program offers a range of initiatives designed to enhance the educational experience. These initiatives include admissions scholarships, prestigious internship opportunities at leading corporations, bonuses for global exchange applications at premier institutions, and dual mentorship from faculty and industry leaders etc. For more information, please click here.
