Alternative Qualifications in Chinese Language Requirement for the Admission of NCS Applicants to the SSSDP Institutions under JUPAS

Alternative qualifications in Chinese Language to be accepted generally for applicants fulfilling the specified circumstances in Note Any other special / additional requirements in respect of Chinese Language proficiency applicable to specific faculties / programmes of studies (also for application to applicants fulfilling the specified circumstances in Note) For NCS applicants with ACL and HKDSE Examination Chinese Language results Other information

ApL(C) Attained For Bachelor of Nursing (Honours), applicants shall comply with the regulations of the Institute and the requirements of The Nursing Council of Hong Kong in regard to Chinese Language.

For NCS applicants with HKDSE Examination Chinese Language and alternative qualifications in Chinese Language, their results in the HKDSE Examination Chinese Language will be considered first.

Under the circumstance that NCS applicants fail to attain Level 3 or above in HKDSE Examination Chinese Language, or have not attempted HKDSE Examination Chinese Language, their ACL will be considered for fulfilment of admission requirement.

HKCHC will first consider NCS applicants' HKDSE Examination Chinese Language results for fulfilment of the entrance requirements.

If NCS applicants fail to attain Level 3 or above in HKDSE Examination Chinese Language, HKCHC will then consider their ACL to see if such results can meet the entrance requirements.

HKMU prioritize the assessment of NCS applicants for fulfillment of the entrance requirements based on their HKDSE Examination Chinese Language results.  If NCS applicants fail to attain Level 3 or above in HKDSE Examination Chinese Language, HKMU will consider if their ACL can meet the requirements unless the programmes have otherwise specified ACL requirement.

For selection purposes, HKMU will consider both ACL and HKDSE Examination Chinese Language results, choosing the one at the advantage of the NCS applicants.

ApL(C) Attained - For the purpose of fulfilling the entrance requirements, VTC-THEi will first consider HKDSE Examination Chinese Language results.  If NCS applicants do not attain Level 3 or above in HKDSE Examination Chinese Language, VTC-THEi will see if their ACL can meet the requirements.  VTC-THEi will consider both the HKDSE Examination Chinese Language results and ACL and take the one at the advantage of the NCS applicants. ApL(C) Attained For Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) in Nursing, applicants should be fluent in written English and Chinese, and in oral English and Cantonese. TWC will primarily look at NCS applicants' ACL for the fulfilment of the entrance requirements.  Those possessing both ACL and HKDSE Examination Chinese Language results will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Note:

NCS applicants (both school and non-school) have to meet either of the following specified circumstances before consideration will be given to their ACL attained:

  1. The applicants have learnt Chinese Language for less than 6 years while receiving primary and secondary education; or

  2. The applicants have learnt Chinese Language for 6 years or more in schools, but have been taught an adapted and simpler curriculum not normally applicable to the majority of students in local schools.

Applicants with ApL(C) results are regarded as fulfilling the above specified circumstances.
